Hi. I've been a long time lurker and finally taking steps to get my first porsche. I wanted to get some input regarding pricing from the members here.
I've located a CPO 2006 Cayman S - black with black interior, 10,500 miles, 6-speed, with the following options - 19" Carrera S Wheel, Automatic Climate Control, Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package, Bose Surround Sound System, Heated Front Seats, Porsche Communication Management, Self-Dimming Mirrors & Rain Sensor,& Wheel Caps with Colored Crest. They are currently asking $54,950.00. Is this price fair or is there room for negotiation? If so, what price should I aim for?
The only real judge of prices is to do a bunch of comparison shopping either on the net or phone with various sellers but I do suggest reading The Cayman Club - FAQ: Questions & Answers

I bought my 07 earlier this month with less than 1000 miles for several thousand less, similarly equipped, 18" wheels and no CPO but with clear bra, car cover + XM.

Too high. Options have minimal impact on what you should pay for a used car. Miles, wear and depreciation against new models.
Also focusing on price before quality is not the best way to buy a used car.
None of us on this site can judge your prospective purchase because we cannot see it or drive it so don't be too influenced but do use some common sense.
Thanks for the replies! For those of you who said that the price was too high, what price do you think is fair? I have been talking to the dealer but have not yet made an offer. Out of curiosity, what would a fair price to offer for an 07 with less miles and the same options exculding pcm?
@Santa Fe - Thanks for linking me to the faq and for your words of wisdom. I am definitely not fixated on price as the only part of the equation. I had a feeling that the pricing was on the high side, but was having a hard time finding any evidence to support my belief.
@sdiver68 - Can you tell me more about the specifics of your purchase? You can PM if you like.
Do a hefty amount of comparison shopping. I found that looking at the "buy it now" prices on ebay for comparable cars and the pre-owned lists from the Porsche web site were good measures as to a starting price. I have seen some cars with the same options and mileage differ in asking price by a few thousand $.
As an example there is an 06 CS on ebay buy it now for $52765. Black, 19'' Classic wheels, sport chrono and 7200 miles. I am not sure what the PCM option runs but you can do the math.
However, the biggest thing is don't be afraid to make an offer. The worst a dealer can do is say no. I made several offers to dealers around the country. Some laughed me off, some made counter offers, and one made a deal with me. I guess what I am saying is, the only way find out what a good price is to start making offers and see how much the dealers are willing to move. I say this assuming that you are willing to buy if a dealer is willing to work with you. Don't waste their time if you are not willing and prepared to buy.
Sport Chrono and Chrono Plus
This optional package is a valuable addition for trackday use. Available in conjunction with the CDR-24 CD radio, it includes a swivel-mounted analog and digital timer unit which is centrally located on the dashboard. All functions are easily accessible via the control stalk for the on-board computer. Analog dials measure hours, minutes and seconds, while a separate digital field displays whole seconds, tenths and one hundredths of a second. A second digital display runs in parallel in the instrument cluster. Click this Link to visit the FAQ entry for Sport Chrono.
Does not sound like a bad deal But stick with Bullshark on this one .Any one with a name like that has got to be a great negotiater Also The car he located for you on E-bay has the Chrono Sport Package .a must in my opinion (But Not everybodys) Condition and a Nice Dealer service printout would have some determining factors for me.WARRENTY? 4 years from date of RDR when its all said and done you still spent a lot less then buying a new one like I did .
