Just heard from the dealer...

that the car I ordered will turn out to be a new 2009 with DFI! No more allocations for 2008s. The plants close down in July, production starts up in August, and delivery of my cay is now set for Sept. I'll miss the Summer, but Fall in NE is great. My dealer says he's sure all the Porsche sports cars will have DFI in '09, meaning the Cayenne probably won't.

Inquiring minds have wanted to know. Now that I've passed on the news, I'll probably turn out to be totally wrong in about a week or so.

Congrats on getting an '09. I bet you're already counting the days!

Side note...I think Cayennes already have DFI

So you ordered a 997 then as the Cayman will not get DFI until MY 2010.

The Cayenne already has DFI, I think your dealer may have just told you something you wanted to hear.

Thats what I am hearing. You will be able to order mid 2009 for the 2010 model delivery. Also expecting the facelift that everybody is talking about (sort of) and the PDK transmission. Forget about waiting for that, just get what you want now.

i bet all the PCM and audio/phone/electronics-related updates on that 911 press release will be in the '09 caymans this fall as well.

maybe they wait a 1/2 year to a year before upgrading the mechanicals and the front and tail ends aesthetically, but all that interior stuff that's shared between models will be there in a few months.

Maybe next time tell what car you ordered so you don't confuse people.
