Hi everyone. I'm a long time lurker, first time poster. I'm starting to look now for a Cayman of my own. My local dealer (Austin) will deal a little on a demo, but say they won't deal much on a non-demo. Is buying a demo to get a deal a good idea? On the one hand, I'm concerned about every Tom, **** and Mary driving it, slipping the clutch and such. Also, the dealer will only knock off about 9% on the demo. I think I might get a better deal elsewhere, but haven't looked yet. - Steve
Do a search on demo's as well, I just posted a deal of 14k off on a demo from Pioneer ins San Deigo and others chimed in as well with demo deals. They are out there, and 9% is not a great deal, even on a stock car that isn't a demo.
I would also ask the dealer for a print-out of the over revs.

I just purchased a cayman from the local Austin dealer. They were very hard to budge on pricing of new or demo models. The most I was able to get off a demo model was about 10% before I decided on purchasing a new one instead. I got about 10% off the car. Probably not the best deal but I wasn't expecting to get 20% off. An extra 5% would have been nice but isn't going to break the bank for me.
I'd suggest Houston and look at the dealers online inventory. A lot of the caymans they stocked were out of my price range.
Yeah call other dealers. others should work with you especially for a demo. flew to plano to get mine (houston didnt have the one i wanted) and i got a pretty good deal. they tried hard to sell me a demo throwing deals my way but i wanted a new one (peace of mind). call around and check out the dealer inventory online.
shopautobahn.com has a VERY nice Cayman demo at 12K off. I would have probably gone that route if I found it when I was shopping. Got 9K off a new car instead.

Not enough info to help but in general leasing a used car and/or paying a down payment on a lease is not the best financial transaction to make (try Google for more). Look in the FAQ's as mentioned above for important information on buying a used Cayman also. All Porsches record over revs by the way and that is the one thing that Porsche will definitely use to deny warranty claims so if you don't do anything else get a report on that before buying.
