% off MSRP on 08s

Hi Everyone,

I was on this forum a few months ago but ended up buying a 335i.
Had it totalled a month ago and now back in market for a Cayman S.
Does anyone know what is the current percentage off MSRP for CS that's on the lot.
Seems like I am unable to go anything below 10% off MSRP.
Just wanted to know what is a reasonalbe offer.
15% is more of what I am hoping for.

Thanks to everyone.

15% off MSRP would be an exceptional price on an '08. 10% off is more likely, IMO.

I got 17% off MSRP for my car when I bought it new. You should do better than 10%. When I was shopping around, the best my local dealers would do was about 7% off MSRP.

I live in MD and bought my car from a dealer in NY. Just drove up there on a weekend and picked up the car.

The discount is due to the economy in its current form, and also with a lot of buyers on the sidelines waiting for the new facelift.

Was yours an '07 or an '08? For an '08 yours would be the highest discount I've ever heard about.

BTW, what is a Boobernackle?

If they are willing to give me 17% off, I would buy it on the spot.
What if I wait another month...I assumed the new one is coming out so they should be able to dicsount it more than 10%.
I get different opinions from different people about pricing.
In Dallas but definitely willing to go out of state if thats the only way I can get 15% off.

I ended up getting just over 12% off my cayman non-s with no trade-in. They initially offered 9%off after I simply said that I was interested in cayman if they had any good deals. By saying I didn't mind waiting and checking out the other dealers in the bay area to find one optioned like I wanted I got to 12+% off with little more effort. It helps to find one with lots of options. Mine stickered at $60.5k including nav which I didn't want but like to have. Some cayman's have been sitting at dealers for months which should help. Good luck!

I wasn't able to get anything lower than 10 % of my 08 cayman. I was hoping for more maybe but they were very hard to budge. After coming on here and hearing of peopel get 10-15-17 % off I thought I might have not got the best deal but not a bad deal. However, in retrospect I probably got a good deal because I have a base cayman with very few options that were about 3-4K on the car which kept the price of the car very low and not much budging room for the dealer.

For what it is worth they will be making 2008 caymans into the fall... Our last "2008 Cayman" is a sept build. I wouldnt hold your breath on seeing the new one anytime soon(spring or so).

I got 12% off my 08 CS (car had 5 miles on it) from a dealer located 450 miles from my home. I don't think 12% is at all unobtainable given the current economy. I feel I could have pushed for more but I wanted a Arctic Silver CS w/navigation so I did not have a lot of choices, so 12% worked for me.

in the bay area 10% off is a good deal on an order. From stock on the lot I would think you could press a little higher. I find the best way to deal is in $ above the invoice price. I would think that something on the lot could be had for $500 - $1000 over invoice depending on the circumstances. Your percentage off MSRP will depend on options.
Stripped base Cayman at 15% off is $1000 under the invoice. That will not happen.

My car was a CS with a MSRP of 65.5K. You cannot expect the same % discount with a regular Cayman. There just isn't enough room for dealers to discount.

There is no meaning to boobernackle, it was just a name I thought up.

I enjoyed the car and I might get another one if I can't get close to 15% off MSRP for CS.
There really isn't too many wrong things with the bimmer other than problems that I already knew about before buying.
One thing that annoys me the most is the CDV.
Both cars has it's pros and cons, but just thought the CS is a little more exclusive and rides more like a sports car.
The 335 definitely has plenty of power. No M3 or S5 or C63 cuz of the gas mileage.
CS and 335 has really good gas mileages considering how how much power it has.

Man...unable to get more than 10% off MSRP, even the site sponsored dealer is not able to go below that.
Am I really just asking too much...I was really hoping that 15% is reasonable.
