Thinking about trading my 08 Corvette for Cayman S..Need Help
Thinking about trading my 08 Corvette 3LT for a Cayman S in lieu of other members who want a little more class and driving experience instead of just raw power. After briefly reading various posts regarding what to expect in the way of discounts, it appears that 12-13% discount off is feasible. I live on Long Island and would appreciate any information anyone might have with regards to dealerships, prices, what you like about your Cayman S and what you do not like as I am still on the fence and do not know if it is worth it.
There are so many threads and posts on this topic, C6 versus Cayman, I'd recommend doing a search. Really. Basically, if you need what one of these cars offers the other will be unacceptable.
Hey I like both cars I really do...but for me it was a quality issue (construction) not quantity (horse power)...underneath a vette is a chevy and a cayman is a porsche.
I don't know about the discounts but I got a pretty good deal on an ordered car from princeton porsche....I assume you should be able to deal pretty well with a car that is sitting on the lot.
and if you do go ahead with the trade...welcome to the club.

Just picked up my new CS exactly week ago and you are right on the money with the discounts, however be ready for long negotiations as well as looking at dealers maybe 100 miles a way or more. Picked up the car in NJ so if you need more info PM me.
Check out Porsche of Roanoke Va. Got 12.5% off sticker last year. They are big time price cutters depending on inventory if you don't mind driving out of town. They will make a deal over the phone. The Chevy dealer would not let me test drive a vette even after I have spent well over 100k with them on Tahoes, Surburbans, and Blazers. They have seen my last $$$. Soured me on the brand. So I bought a CS- they did me a favor. Do the deal. Screw GM.
I sold my 2006 Corvette in early May and purchased a 2008 CS on the 23rd of May from Porsche of Tysons Corner located in Virginia just outside of DC. I ended up there because they had the car in stock I wanted. I received a 12% discount off the MSRP of $66,500.00, hope this helps and good luck. I would not be surprised if Cayman Club Sponsors can meet or beat that deal, in the end it often comes down to who has the car.
PS: The Cayman S is an awesome sports car, but I can honestly say the Corvette is a great car as well, just different styles. I prefer the refinement of the Porsche over the raw power of the C6 Corvette. While I did not have one single issue with the Corvette during my ownership I would not be willing to going back to the Corvette.

Can't help your decision any, as I'm in a similar situation. I have an '08 C6 ZO6, and am considering selling it for a Cayman S. I've driven the CS a few times, and no question it is a great driving car. There is obviously a big power difference, and the ZO6 handling is very good too. But, after years of track schools, I find myself a little less enthused about it, and for a purely street driven sports car, I think the Cayman is a great choice.
I just drove a new C6 again last week and have to admit my enthusiasm died a bit. It had a slushbox so maybe that was some of it. Still a good car overall and the looks are gorgeous but the flame I had for one died somewhat - the CS is a better overall sports car. A long time Vette fan in the car with me agreed with that assessment too.....
which dealership in NJ did you purchase your car from as I am willing to travel.
I got mine in Eatontown
I’d be glad to give you the sales person’s info if you like.
But be before that my suggestion is for you to see the inventories of the dealers around us to see if they have what you want, and then contact that dealer.
You are probably already aware but go to below link and type in your zip, then see dealer inventories.
