Wondering if this next week may be a good time to make a deal. Seeing car commercials all over offering special deals with the upcoming 4th of July holiday. Don't think Porsche has announced any incentives yet but was wondering if there was something I didn't hear. Still see a decent amount of inventory on dealers lots. Also the last few times to the dealers the places were like ghost towns, for the most part I was the only one there.
Don't mind waiting a few more weeks to save $$$. Since there's virtually no difference between '06 and '08 I've also got my eye out for a lightly used Cayman S. I'm in Northern NJ and wouldn't mind traveling within reason to find one. Literally came within hours of purchasing a member from Cleveland's car a couple of weeks ago, but somebody beat me to it.
With Porsches it really depends on the dealer and what they have in inventory and what they need to sell to keep an inventory. Porsche allocates its cars to dealers based on previous sales numbers so the individual dealer might have an incentive or on the other hand may not care because they may not have new cars in the pipeline. Just do your research, call dealers around the country, check with our sponsor dealers and find the best car for you and don't worry too much about saving a few hundred on a car you might keep a long time.
End of month always matters. Salesmen and sales managers have monthly goals, as they get near the end of the month they start to work a lot harder to make a deal. You can get especially lucky if they're one deal away from a big bonus.
Thanks for the responses, a few hundred I can live with, a few grand is another story. Have read here recently that some folks were getting between $11-13 grand off sticker, don't know if I'm crazy using that assumption but was hoping not to spend more than $55M. A lot of the cars optioned the way I want are around $66-67M so I'll see what I can do. Worst thing they can say is no, right?
Dealers also have a list that shows what cars they can give the biggest discounts, ask them to show you cars that need to move quick. You might be able to save a few grand that way also.
As soft as the economy is and it's end of the month, dealers are motivated for sales. Prices at invoice is not unreasonable. Keep looking and be patient!

Yeah, that Doctor's car from Cleveland looked like a nice one. Didn't last long at that price.

Was literally ready to wire him money for the deposit when he had someone show up at his place to buy it, damn!
Headed out to my local dealer to see if they'll take an offer on a very low milage '06. Not exactly what I want but if I get it for the price I'm asking I'll be thrilled.
Well I did it! Bought a Red on Black 2006 Cayman S, with only 1,800 miles. Color combo wasn't on the top of my list but I made them an offer I couldn't refuse Scheduled to pick her up Wednesday. Look forward to officially joining the club.
Congratulations!
I think end of month especially this month does matter.
Two dealership actually lowered their price to 15% off.
Extremely tempted right now.
