2008 Black CS, 1,300 miles, Xenon, Heated Seats, Chrono Package, Bose. Sticker was $63,550 they are asking $54,000 with 'room to move'. What should I expect to get this for? Is $50k too agressive?

Reason: more verbiage
I think 50K sounds about right and is not too aggressive. Try to go lower, perhaps 48K and see what happens, but that may be pushing it.
It is essentially a like new car. But you have to consider the weak economy and the fact that they want to move this car due to the facelifted Caymans coming out, if it is a Porsche dealer.
Invoice with those options would be $56K, so 50K would be pretty aggressive if the car has not been titled. But I don't think it would hurt to ask. If it's used, I would offer even less.
I just checked with the dealer (Porsche) and it has been titled. Purchased in Oct07 and sold back in June08 by the lady who purchased it.
Agreed on the comment on the status/uncertainty of the economy - that has to be taxing on the dealer's sales. Plus, they have 5 other used Caymans on the lot.
i'd go in at 45. you already know two things: (a) sticker is irrelevant, b/c it's a used car with going on a year in-service; and (b) they certainly rang the bell on the lady who owned it for 8 months before trading it, so why pay them twice? i'd be surprised if they had much more than low-mid 40's in it.
but then, some would call me very aggressive. in an economy like this, shopping for undeniably luxury-brand items like a porsche, why not be aggressive? it's not as though buyers are lined up out the door.
yeah, I think if you going into the 50s you might want to spent a little more and get a new 08. 45k would definitely be a good deal.
Make sure this is the one you want...either way you will be spending quite some money on it.
Good luck.

Umm...some folks would say mid-40's for an 06 CS is reasonable, so I have no clue how anyone would get a used 08 for that. Even the 07's are in the high 40's.
A dealer will be unlikely to sell it to you for less than they can get at auction. Caymans around here don't come up a lot, and command a premium when they do (in good shape/mileage). This car would definitely wholesale above $50k around here. It has a lot of warranty left. You may want to seek out a source to tell you what they are doing at auction in your area and use that as a starting point.
Presently, dealers are paying a lot less at auction than the quoted wholesale prices on Edmunds, etc. I would bet the dealer paid no more than $45K for this car. Brand new, in-stock Caymans are selling for at or near invoice right now. I suppose there are some people out there that will buy a used car for a few percent less than new, but not me.
For some perspective - I was tossing the idea around of picking up a GT3 last week and talked to two dealers in CO that had one in stock - they both offered my $49k for my 2007 CS, lightly optioned with 4100 miles on it. I think under $50k would be a steal for a 2008 CS. However, the luxury car market is dead right now, so be as aggressive as you can, the worst they can say is no. They are begging me to buy these GT3's right now, but I love the CS so I'm in no hurry.
Just agreed on $58 for a new 08 Cayman S with sticker price of $66 with options like x-non, upgraded bose, 6 cd changer, heated seats, powers seats ect. After doing my homework and shopping around at least 10 dealerships across the country, I am happy with a 12% discount off MSRP. Dealership is Herb in Boston.

But the question is, what would they offer you if you weren't going to buy a GT3? Probably a few thousand less. Dealers usually pad your trade-in value by taking a bit less off the price of the car you're buying, to avoid the inevitable "You're crazy! My car is worth more than that!".
Just paid $55,800 for '08 CS that listed for $64375. Market is SOFT.
Well back in July of 2007, I got $10.5K off a BRAND NEW 2007 Cayman S, so the market has not changed since then (MSRP was $65,500). Please note that this was back in July of 2007, not 2008!
I think they just want to get rid of their inventory for the facelifted cars to come out, and the discount they are giving TODAY has not exceeded the deal I got A YEAR AGO on my new CS. Back in July 2007, the credit crunch, Bear Sterns fall, etc. had not happened, and the housing market was just starting to tumble, instead of the free fall we are in now.
