I was all set to purchase a new 07 from a local dealership for $49900 but found a dealership willing to discount 08's for around 10%. The car I am picking up retailed for $64500...........I got it for $58.
At the considerable risk of continuing to sound like a broken record please think quality before price when buying a used Porsche. You have to know a lot about the car beyond price. In fact price should be the last part of the equation. See also The Cayman Club - FAQ: Questions & Answers
Almost everyone asks us if this a good price for a used Cayman and many of those posing the question have not seen or driven the car so the answers from those of us who know nothing about the car or its history can only be based on guesses so it is in your best interest to take what is said as only a part of your due diligence.

Thanks. I understand completely. Your right. I was looking at a few 2002 c2 cabs',, they 'wern't cleaned up yet' according to the dealer,, I could see by looking at them that the prior owners really didn't give a sh*t about the cars, they were not clean, and suffering from negelt.,, so point well taken. At this point I may look into a new base 2008 with a minimal amount of upgrades.
I was looking at a new 07 for $49 but found a dealership in Boston who discounted a $66K 08 to $58, and it was the color I wanted and all. Pretty good discount.
The car would have been around $46,825 invoice or $53,660 MSRP when it was new in 07, but with 09's coming around the conner and alot of 08's being discounted for around 10k off MSRP, I was thinking more around $35,000. Is that too aggressive? Plus the car has been sitting at the dealer for sale for about 4 months now.
i got mine 500$ under invoice black stripped cayman S
My local Porsche dealer has a new '08 S stripper (black) on the lot and is asking about $55K. Edmunds.com puts the invoice for the car at $51.6K. No options whatsoever. So an offer at $51K might work? That would be almost 14% below the MSRP.

51K plus destination plus 100$(bs prep) = 51960 + tax and license should work. Try to get them at the end of the month. Which dealer is that? If you are in socal pm me i will give you some tips too.

OK, I went to the dealer and drove the new '08 S on Saturday....wow! The salesman has come down from $55K and change to $54K, which he says is their invoice cost. The sticker is $60.9K (includes sport chrono as the only option) and also there is a dealer installed lojack on the car plus they will include mats and the colored wheel hub crests at my request. That brings the list up to about $61.9K. When I use Edmunds.com's analysis I indeed come up with about $54K for the dealer invoice. I might be able to get them down to $53.5K final price, which would be 13.5% discount or $500 below invoice. Financing is available from Porsche at 5% for 60 months ($10K down).
There is also a very nice low mileage '06 S (with a lot of options) for sale at another dealer for $44K.
Decisions...decisions.
