07 S Still on Dealer Lot.....How Much?

Hi Folks,

I'm looking at a new 07S configured as follows:

403 - 19" Carrera S Wheel
P16 - PCM 2.1
M6Z - Floor Mats Interior Color
692 - Remote CD Changer (6 Disc)
P15 - Power Seat Package
PPB - Preferred Package Plus
680 - Bose High End Sound Package
342 - Heated Front Seats
P12 - Self-Dim Mirrors & Rain Sensor
446 - Wheel Caps with Colored Crest
P74 - Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package

MSRP: $70,065.00

I do not believe the warranty card is punched. My purchase window will open in September.

What price range should I be in for this vehicle?

Thanks in advance!

I would start at $5 and work your way up from there.

I believe getting 15K MSRP is doable. I got 10.5K off MSRP on my 07 Cayman S BACK IN JULY OF 2007! My car was bought BRAND NEW.

So, 10.5-12K below MSRP should be your highest offer at the end.

10-15K below the sticker price may be doable. I would also see if the dealer will CPO the car as the warranty is punched.

Don't let him try and add on paint protection etc back on to recoup the discount. If you want a 'bra' you can get this done after you purchase the car from a specialist.

If you have nothing to trade in or finance you are in more control. If you are trading he may discount low but don't expect a 'top dollar' trade in price. The same with finance don't expect the same deal on a heavily discounted car.

Anyhow good luck.

Thanks for the advice Nick. I think the warranty is NOT punched.

I am also looking at a heavily optioned CPO used 07 (Atlas Gray) with 14K miles. This vehicle is listed at $18K off of the MSRP and I believe the dealer will go lower. Assuming the Meteor Gray above is still on the market in the beginning of September, I'm thinking about going in at $15K below MSRP and not budging much. My financing will be in place so I will be negotiating a cash deal.

I have never owned a Porsche before, so I will be delighted with whatever Cayman I end up with. This permits me a lot of freedom to choose the "best" deal and make the dealers compete for my business. I'll be traveling to see the Meteor Gray car on Saturday and introduce myself to the dealer. We'll see.

You mentioned that the warranty MAY be punched, I would look more into this and make sure.

Back in November I got a blk/blk '07 with everything you mentioned except PCM and 19" wheels. The dealer installed the clear bra and I paid $56K and change. I had another car picked out at another dealer so if they hadn't lowered the price I would have gone the other way.

By "purchase window of September" do you mean that you can't buy it until then? If that's the case don't even bother bargaining with them until then. You'll just piss them off for when you do go back in ready to buy. Any way you can move on it before then?

Bonuses where I work are distributed in September so I'll wait til then to make my purchase. Also, the cars I'm looking at have already sat for some time so I don't see any need to rush. This trip is not to negotiate but to look at the car and introduce myself to the dealership. This dealer is a couple hours away from Palm Bay so an "advance" trip seems like a good idea when I get ready to seriously negotiate. I fully intend to have two dealers competing for my business.

I've been very open with them over the phone so, unless they choose to ignore what I told them, expectations should be low. I don't want to waste the salespersons time but a preliminary discussion to let him know I am serious and explain how I am going to approach my purchase has some value.
