Exclamation '07 Cayman Base Tip for $38k???

Is this a good deal? The dealer says it is priced low because of the Tiptronic - not a good resale option here. It is in really good shape with 27k miles. Edmunds shows dealer retail at >$42k and trade-in at >$37k. I haven't driven it yet, but plan to tomorrow. I'd be trading my '01 Supercharged Miata (manual). FWIT - My other car is an Audi A3 with DSG. I absolutely love the DSG. Will the Tip disappoint? Thank in advance.

Please see the FAQ here on buying a used Cayman in order to protect yourself. Also read the many similar price questions in the sales and leasing forum. There is a wide price variance for used Porsches depending on how they were taken care of so go in with your eyes wide open and price the last thing on your mind.

So far I have not seen anyone suggest anything to anyone but "you can get it for a lower price". When in fact we don't have a clue since we know nothing about the car itself.

I agree with Santa Fe. Be careful. I did a quick search on Auto trader for a tip with 27k. I only found 1 in Austin. I guess that’s the one. If a Tip is what you want than your choices a limited for that price. But if a stick is ok. Than you can find plenty of them to choose from within a few hundred miles from Austin. For example this one. That’s nicely equipped Bi-Xenon, Bose package for 38,900 and 20k miles.

Thanks. The FAQ section is quite extensive and I'm slowly working my way through it.

I'm not sure where you see I'm in Austin, because I'm in San Antonio - but close enough to Austin that it could be the same car. I saw your other find earlier, but black cars are off my list completely, so that car isn't even an option for me (almost any other color is fine), but thanks anyway.

I follow ads in the SE & Calif on Craigslist & Autotrader, plus local papers. Several 2.7's MT with ~6k have been offered for less than $40k. MSRP's ~ $52-54. I drove one. Perfect, as new, sold for less than $39 from original owner (no sales tax in Ga). I need to wait about one more year. I'm older, only buy toys for cash.... There is a white one in St Petersburg, Fla now (Autotrader). I prefer lighter colors, MT's, 'mature' owners, low miles, & can live with limited options. I think your biggest decision is MT vs Tip. Many of us would only be happy with either the MT or the Tip, not the other. Good luck.
