Just took option on CS Sport or FL CS

Well I took the plunge and placed a deposit on a CS sport (Dec build) with the option to switch to first build on FL CS (spring 09 build). Now I have to study all the options and costs and weigh the differences between 08 and 09 to see which way to go. I have been planning a fully optioned car(fully optioned interior trim with all performance options) and then adding suspension upgrades and a likely x51 motor or it's equivelant DFI version. There is a lot to be said for all the free options that come with the sport run.
I have decided against PDK so that is one strike against the 09. Also 09 will see at least 5% price increase. A plus09 is DFI motor but if I am going to swap anyway? PCM/bluetooth upgrades can all be done after market maybe better and cheaper. Big ajustment for me is that I wanted GT Silver with Sea Blue/GT silver interior. Was not so keen on GT3 Orange/Black until I saw one today...Black interior with orange stitching...wow...Initial estimates place about 10K of free options in the CS sport, that could
help alot towards x51 swap. So it looks like a good 15-18K savings going the 08 sport verses 09 DFI. Plus the choice between the GT silver/sea Blue (very classy undestated but sporty) verses 'target on my back' GT3 Orange. Lots to think about...imput welcome

There is no way to know what the price increase on the '09 Caymans will be until PCNA announces it. The increase on the 997.2 is 2.8%. If PCNA follows past history, the Cayman markup will be less.

This is true for MSRP. The actual selling price has been considerably under MSRP. Will that continue?

I thought I would get more imput on this...anyway ran a bunch of numbers last night and the savings seem to be closer to 5-7k figuring a 3% price increase...with the Sport model there are a few free options I don't care about so I left them off...if I was keen on a black interior the savings would be more like 8k....note that this is on MSRP of 90-95k. My thinking is if I were lightly optioning the Sport version it would make more sense...even though the actual savings is the same the percentage savings is lower as the option list grows. Right now my inclination is to stick it out till the spring and get exactly what I want...hope to talk to FL this weekend about new engines versus the old and whether DFI 3.8 engine can be retro fitted to an 08 car...also with late Dec delivery I wouldn't be driving an 08 much till the spring anyway
am I thinking straight here? What would you do?

ps. yeah we will not know the actual price increase for a while which is a problem. I expect a bigger discount on the Sport due to incentives to move the older version. I would expect demand to be higher on the DFI cars so discounts will be less.

I would guess that the swap of a 3.8 DFI engine into a car/ECU built for a 3.4 non DFI enging might be a problem. Check this out carefully and understand that no one will really know the answer with certainty until they have a 3.8 DFI in hand.
