Buying a Cayman S

After driving a stick all my life I am looking for a Cayman S with Tip because I expect a left knee replacement in the near furure. I saw a 2006 CS with about 3600 miles on it (VIN no. ending with 1288) at a dealer who wants $62 K for that. It has Basalt Blk metallic / blk std leather, Preferred pkg with Tip, auto climate control, sport chrono without PCM and bixenons. The MSRP of these is about $68 K. It also has a Sirius satellite radio and a clearbra (dealer says these added $2K) - total purchase price about $70 K.

Is the asking price reasonable ? I hear that folks are getting almost $5-6K on 2006 models - if that is the case should the used price be lower especially now that the model year is just about over ?
Also, what discounts off MSRP (if any) are folks getting on 2007 models ?

I am a new member and I would like to thank in advance anyone who cares to share their advice with me. I hope to lay my hands on a Cayman S soon - I have been visiting this forum for a while and it is very instructive.

Seems steep. Shop around. You're bound to find one that is right.

Thanks Eagle33621 and Moleculo. I thought it was steep too. The new 07 Cayman I have been thinking of is also heavily optioned and around 75K MSRP.

Has anyone done business with an outfit called Global Auto Lease ? They say they can get these at fleet prices. Do they dliver on their promises ? Any history ?

I did contact global auto lease. The fleet rates are good but not that different from the dealer prices.

62K for a used cayman seems steep. Boston area used to have 5-6k off on MSRP of 65K. Not sure if they have it now (this was 1 month back!)

As for the Clear bra- I got it installed for my 996 911from the dealer for $340, covers the bumpers, hood, mirrorsetc.

So my point is that all prices are negotiable. Depends on the negotiation power

3600 miles at $62K is pretty good with those options. You may be able to squeeze another $1K out of it, but that price is solid as long as it is still in pristine condition...

As an additional ploy insist on an extended warranty at thier cost (if you are buying and not leasing) and if the tires seem a bit worn ask for new replacements at their cost. You can also ask for and get in writing the first oil change at their cost. Trying to save the last few bucks just means going without the Cayman longer and I can assure you that you don't want to do that.

62,000 for a used car. Way overpriced. If it's a Demo, they tore the hell out of it.
