Okay, I'm going to ask again. I got a near invoice deal on a leftover '06 S Cayman S and from anecdotes here many others have too. Is this a normal year end Porsche thing? or a one-time anomaly due to over-guessed inventory? Most acquaintances of mine are surprised to hear this, they generally believe Porsches sell at or near MSRP.
I walked in the dealership and the salesman knocked off $6,000 from the window sticker for a 2007 Cayman S. Don't know if thats invoice but it must be close. It's now in my garage!
Welcome to the site and thanks for raising the sales numbers by 1 more!

Interesting July 2007 numbers, identical sales figures to July 2006 - thus Cayman is holding steady sales wise at a rate that exceeds Porsche's expectations. The split has shifted a little towards the non-S model.

Maybe they are doing what every well managed company is doing in the world... cutting back on production of goods for the current global credit crunch. If they keep making 07s and not alot of people can get financing...Car Inventorys begin to swell. Then, in the summer of 2008 when the subprime credit crunch is over and people can afford cars and get access to cheap money... Noone will want an 07. they dont want a generation of cars with no miles to sit, or worse... have to be reduced in price to compete with the 08s with no miles.
I'm amazed that you get discounts in the US. In the UK Porsche won't knock a penny off - you can't even get free mats (although I did by mistake when I purchased a boxster on 2001!). I guess owners benefit down the line as resale values are strong as a result
My Cayman S MSRP was $74575. I paid $67069. That is $7506 off, which is around 10% off. It was $1550 over invoice. You can find out invoice, including your options, on New Car Prices, Used Car Pricing, Car Reviews by Edmunds Car Buying Guide. So go in prepared with invoice knowledge to help you negotiate the deal. My advice is to shop around on the Net, then go to your local dealer and see if they will match the deal.

I just bought one Friday for basically invoice price in the D.C. Area. MSRP was 63k, I paid 55k. It might have been $500 over invoice. I could have bought a 911 for $1500 over MSRP (if I hadn't thought the Caymen was a better car). I think weakness in the morgage markets coupled with end of summer, near end of model year has caused an a bit of an excess in inventorys. It's a buyer market in the states right now.
I just updated the stats in the first message for Aug 2007 sales, apologies for forgetting to do this sooner. Sales in Aug 2007 were 580 vs. 529 in Aug 2006 about a 10% increase in sales over last year. Good stuff, especially considering the market..

You can if you look the damned salesman straight in the eye and tell him what you think of Porsche's idea of selling a >£40k car without over mats.
Worked for me at AFN Guildford!

So, did you get anything else other than free mats? I got free mats with my last Porsche, becuase I think they put them in the car without realising I hadn't ordered them in protect!
