I'm sure this question has been addressed but it's been awhile since I've visited the forum- I would like to change my oil. is it similar to the Boxster S?
Any guidance would be appreciated.

You don't need a $30 oil filter wrench. Use your hands.
If you use the proper wrench for removal of the cannister, then you can set the torque correctly upon installation. Since it is a cannister with an o-ring, and the engine is a non-trivial and costly item to repair/replace, just making it (the cannister or drain plug) gutentight isn't the best advice IMO.
I do have the torque values for both the cannister and the drain plug in the manual that I have. I sent them to Helodriver to add to his article, but don't know if he added that info.

It's a bear to remove the filter w/your bare hands.
I do agree you don't need a $30 wrench, since you can pick up a 74mm cup type oil filter wrench from most auto parts stores (or Walmart, etc.) for under $10. Especially w/the plastic housing, I prefer to use recommended torque settings.
The funny thing is I never took mine out in the rain either! I was so stunned about the cabin filter I didn't even notice the wiper till I got home. I only had 2k miles on the car when I took it in.

I'm doing my first oil change after 12 months and 2 weeks and 10K miles...but I'm having a heck of a time finding a 14 Flute oil filter wrench...everything I've found is 15 flute and I found out the hard way that that just does not work. May I ask what brand and model wrench it is that you bought? Thank you.
