Coolant

Hi Everyone,

Just got my 2006 Cayman S a couple of weeks ago and love it. The car has about 11000 miles. I had to add about a litre of water to the coolant system although no warning lite. I don't know if the previous owner checked it so it may not be a big deal if it is necessary to top up the coolant from time to time. The car is originally from Georgia

Anyone know if it is normal to top up coolant occasionally and how much.

Thanks

My 2008 Cayman S was underfilled from the factory by about 1 cup(!) before I saw some coolant at the min level of the spout.

2600 miles later the level hasn't changed.

If you're worried, remove the engine cover and look for any leaks in the coolant hoses leading to the coolant tank. I've seen reports of the clamp not completely secure so over time you'll get a small leak. Dried coolant will be white spots all over the engine area.

Welcome to CaymanClub by the way!

I have a 2006 Cayman S and have added coolent. Live in Texas. I believe the over fill tank is actually were it goes. Actually I understand you need to add water only since the coolant is not evaporating but just a bit of water.
