7.0 sec is the official number from Porsche for 2.7L tiptronic. Don't get tiptronic if the acceleration number is what you're looking for. I'm not sure, but you may be beat by a BMW X5 at a red light. At least in China people "think" you must be fast because of the money you paid for this car.

Don't worry! The majority of manual cayman owners would not able to do o-100km/h 6.1s without frying their clutch or destroying their gearbox.
Most tiptronic owners will match or even better 7s (Most German test driver are tall and overweight!)
I always buy manual cars in UK cause its more fun to drive and my other half like the way I change gears. Traffic jams in NW England is nowhere near as bad as LA or China.
I do agreed the cayman or cayman s deserve a lot more power for its wonderful chassis! Other than Porsche own 4x4, only the 4.8l X5 or the ML 55AMG is quicker than the cayman. W
With the exception of the 3.6l Cayenne, if you been tailgate by a Cayenne, better to move over cause you got no chance. The new Cayenne Turbo S got 550bhp!
my main concern was how its almost a second off the time of the manual, which is quite a lot. The tip S is 60 kg heavier, but i didn't think the weight would add that much time.
to be honest, the acceleration already feels plenty scary to me, don't think i'd ever go full throttle in city driving.
chinese traffic jams are great, once there is a jam there is no more traffic rules, you can cut ppl off, go on the wrong side and everything... but i don't think i'd be doing that in the cayman tho.
i like driving in china--you can cut people off--honk your horn--do many things that will get you shot in the usa--in china just normal so no one seems to care--at least that was my eperience back in 05--not sure if it is the same now--i heard there are many cameras for automatic tickets----this would take the fun out of driving--my wife a shanghai native has a hard time driving there--to me just an amusemnt park ride
its fun when you have a used car that you don't care too much about, eg my current VW, its mostly like a dare driving during congestion, you just force you way thru untill the other guy backs off. altho this may sound bad, everyone does it and if you don't then you won't move at all for 30 or 40 mins.
i for one love this dare game, seeing a punk kid with a Learner plate and a very dented car who also happens to be thottle happy seem to scare the other drivers.
but once i get the cayman, i think i'd become a christian motorist, ...at least for the first year...
in china my wife's car was a junker vw santanna stick shift--but i did love to drive it over there--one of the funny things was getting directions from people in the car whose english is not very good--my chinese is not very good--made for some last minute turns--in the usa we have a acura semi junker that i drive when i need to park and get around town--i still baby my cs and am afraid to park it over here for fear of getting hit by someone when i am gone
