To Z-max or not to Z-Max, that is the question.

Hello one and all,

I was just curious if anyone has any info or back ground on using the product "Z-Max" in our engines? Has anyone used it? Did it help your fule consumption? Any problems with it in relation to wear on engine parts etc?

I have not poured it into my engine and fuel system as of yet but I was thinking about it.

Just curious about the product and it's effects on our cars.

I believe your Porsche owners manual tells you never to add any such additives to your car. I don't know if it will do any harm or any good, but why risk it?

I agree. How much benefit could there be to the oil additive, considering the Cayman ships with Mobil-1 0W40 oil, already pretty advanced stuff on its own? The fuel system additive is probably harmless, but Chevron's Techron has more documented results and can be had cheaply at Costco. Z-Max uses a lot of infomercial-class marketing, which always makes me cautious.

Good points made. I was just wondering if anyone knew of an advantage. I've always felt the Porsche Engineers were pretty smart guys. If something is benificial to the cars I'm sure they would use it.

Thanks for the input.

I read an exhaustive report on dozens of additives where they said one and only one that they tested actually worked...Techron. The stuff Chevron adds to gas. It just helped keep things clean.

additives

I would definitely stay away and save your money. If anything seek higher octane fuel.

We used the industrial version in the military {Linkite } is the only engine additive approved by the {FFA } I get it at the base and have been using it for yr.s. Have been in chopper when tranny got shot up as well as the turbine was able to fly home safe. Once in my FJ hit a piece of steel and ripped my oil pan open no phone about 40 klicks from nowhere drove it all the way back fried the motor but it got me home. It will not Void your Warranty and it ain't Slick 50. I also run royal purple but as far as my wife and I's Porches even though it is made by Mobil still have to run Mobile one And it would not make any since to run any other type oil . But the polymer in Linkite is to date the best bonding molecular agent out there If you have taken a trip on a jet youve been riding the industrial or military grade Z Max
