Two-year Service Report

Just completed this service at Hoehn Porsche, Carlsbad CA. First, know that this is normally an $800+ hit if oil change, cabin and engine filters change, and brake flush ($340 !) By careful scheming and having already changed the oil myself, my tab was $209.
They let me decline the flush (surprise) and the filters. They said an engine filter was needed but I disagreed since the car only has 8,300 miles and the filter was hardly discolored. The cabin filter is an overkill feature to me and I have vacuumed it myself anyway.
They seemed very thorough. Had the car up on a hoist to inspect from below and the engine cover off to inspect from above. They even treated all front and rear hatch and door gaskets and removed the battery cable terminals and cleaned the posts!
I gave them a written list of what I wanted and did not want when i went in (they took the car on the spot-no appointment and were finished in two hours) and the estimate was $300. Then, when finished they said "oh the $300 included a cabin filter, here's your old one." I reminded them of my original list and they removed the new one and put back in the old! All quite satisfactory, actually.
Incidentally, the party line is that, to flush the brakes, one must access the computer to run some pumps and anti-lock stuff while bleeding so not a DIY procedure. They claim they run two litres of fluid through to do it.

Your dealer is more full of 5hit than a portable toilet in a chilly cook-off! If that was the case NONE of us would be able to do AC or DE, since we would be waiting in line at the dealer to get our brake fluid replaced.
If a dealer ever claimed that to me, that would be the last time they would see me.

I know my old GTi was that way when you had to flush the brake fluid. I damaged the system when I tried it the old fashioned way....
