vehicle identification label

Do you guys have the vehicle identification label under your bonnets/hoods. I know it is on the boxster, but not sure about the Caymen. Just bought one and it is not there - so bit worried. If it should be there any possible explanation (other than the obvious one of damaged and replaced).

Sorry about any duplicate posts trying to get to grips with this site

From the manual: see attachment

I personally have not confirmed it as I have not taken off my battery cover yet.

Bigger picture attached (for some reason I can't get png files to show up the correct size). says that "the vehicle identification number is in the front luggage compartment under the battery cover".

I know the VIN (vehicle identification number is where you state it is) but in the UK (probably the same elsewhere) the boxsters and older porsches have a sticky label under the bonnet/hood which includes the VIN and all the option codes as well. It is usually a good indicator as to whether the bonnet has been replaced. Hence, why trying to find out whether the Cayman is the same as the Boxster in this respect. From what I gather it is usually refered to as VLI - vehicle identification label, rather than a VIN. It is more or less like the page (4?) in your warranty document

I got what I assume is the VIL but it was not stuck on the car. The dealer handed it to me along with all the books and manuals that came with the car. It was still attached to it's wax paper backing and has my VIN along with all my option codes printed out.

Thanks Cheerio. Hopefully it is the same here in the uk. Perhaps some of the UK based guys could confirm whether porsche have changed their policy - i.e. no vehicle Identification label under the bonnet for Caymens

Looks like they don't use the labels anymore as you suspected. Thank god for that.

I have a label attached on page 1 of the "911 Carrera, 911 Turbo, Cayman, Boxster Maintenance" book.
Where can I look up the option codes?

TSP,

This site should help with most of them

I contacted the local dealer and asked them for a print out of the original order specs, that shows option code and details as well as engine, transmission and various other serial numbers. You may have to go in and prove that you own the said vehicle.
