What Exactly is Unladen Weight?

The weight quoted in the spec does not explain what exactly went into the calculation of the weight. Does it include fuel, and other consummables necessary to drive the car? What standard equipment is included in the calculation?

unladen means just the car and its driver, or what ever that makes it go, which includes fuel.

they have a standard spec, the quoted weight should really reflect the car in standard layout. don't know what weight they use for an estimate for a driver tho, might vary for different country, may be more in america (runs away)

Does the Porsche spec include 100% fuel or 90% as I have read somewhere else? A full tank of 64 litre fuel would weigh about 46kg.

I think the unladen weight mean a standard car with no fuel or driver---please correct me if Im wrong.
When I first read about the cayman s in 2005, I was a bit disappointed the car weigh in at 1340kg; just 5kg lighter than a Boxster S. However, when I found out that they had stiffened the structure and got a slightly bigger engine, I sort of feel a bit better paying the extra price. The peformance figures on our handbook (0-100km/h 5.4s 0-160 km/h 11.7) are taken with a standard car with the driver weighing in at 75kg with half tank of 98RON unleaded. Our handbook did state any equipment or different RON will affect the performance.
I always use 98RON+ fuel and I weigh 68kg without breakfast. My fuel tank is usually less than half full. I don't think I will have any problems matching those figures even if I hadn't chipped and desnork my car

laden means has payload, the driver and fuel are not considered payload, essentially unladen weight is the weight for it to function as a car.

not sure about fuel percentage tho, 100% seems like the logical choice but.

i checked with the DMV rules, u need a minimum of 5 gallons of fuel in the tank, so i guess its the weight of a standard spec of car + 75kg driver + 5 gallons of fuel

also the radiator must be completely filled with coolant, and the engine needs the correct level of oil

5 gallons would only be about 19 litre or about 30% full which would weight about 13.5kg. What's DMV by the way?

What is the claim for unladen weight? My Cayman S on the SCCA scales with 1/2 tank of gas and NO driver weighed in at 3,024 pounds.

This is what I've found. Unladen weight, defined by the EU seems to include 90% tank of gas and 75kg of driver + cargo.
Without the 75kg, unladen weight (DIN) for the CS is 1350kg for manual and 1390kg for Tip.
