I'm changing my brake pads tonight, for a two day track event tomorrow.

I've done 3 sets so far and I'm on the very last pad, front left, outside.

One of the pistons won't retrack away from the rotor. I've tried levering it just like all the others--which worked just fine--but this one wont budge at all. The other piston on this caliper will retrack, but obviously I need both to retrack to get the new pad in.

I've tried releasing the pressure in the brake fluid, but to no avail.

Any suggestion? If I can't get this done tonight, then a $$$ track weekend is shot.

And, yes I know, don't wait until the last minute next time.

Not sure the piston might be jamed, looks like you tried opening the bleader screw. I would try to reinstall everything on that one that is giving you the trouble, pump up the brakes and then try the piston that is giving you the hard time first. Not sure what else to say.

The piston needs to be pressed back into the caliper very symmetrically. Be sure that you apply the pressure from as many points as possible (ex: 12 o'clock then 6 o'clock then 3 then 9).

You may already have the piston out of parallel with the bore so pump the brake pedal a few times to get the piston to move outward and realign it self then give it another go!
