Perhaps a little off the wall question but when I was installing the SRP there were several times that kneeling in the trunk would have made access much easier. However, just pushing on the deck felt like it was a little flimsy so I just stretched a bit.

Is it safe to stand, set or kneel in the rear trunk for engine access? Or will I end up straddling the exhaust system which sounds both expensive and painful.

Wow - I don't know how I would have installed the SRP if I hadn't kneeled in the trunk! I routinely climb in there to set up my video camera at the track. I find it plenty sturdy enough to support my 200 lbs.

Thanks. Weren't really that bad leaning over the back and reaching in from the sides.

Hopefully that flexible feeling the deck had wasn't a new for '08 weight/cost reduction. Otherwise it should hold my 190 lbs ok.

I climb in the rear for the same reason, but something got damaged when I jumped out!
It was my leg, one thigh took my weight on the spoiler (one leg in one out) and I got a nasty bruise. Suffice to say I dont jump out any more.

Hate to say it but I'm a little on the short side and can't access the engine area from the side (well at least not without scratching up the sides) so I have to access the engine area by climbing in the back. No problems but I'm also careful as well.
