My warranty is up at the end of this year. I had a grinding noise from the rear when maintaining speed. The dealer replaced the transmission and flywheel. There is a TSB that says the dealer should replace the transmission instead of repairing it. I assume it's the same as the Cayman 987-300-010-AX manual 6 speed.
I should be good for 100K miles!
Good deal. How many miles on the car? I like the idea of changing out a motor or tranny instead of trying to fix a complicated problem at a dealer. I would rather have a new (or even a freshly rebuilt) tranny replace a faulty one.
I have an '05 BS with 35K miles. I finished a DE after I heard the noise, just wanted to be sure the dealer would fix it. I don't think I will need an extended warranty after this.
