Anyone use the Durametric Diagnostic Tool?

Looking to buy a Durametric Diagnosic Tool from http://www.durametric.com/index.php. (No; I'm not affiliated with the company in any way). Anyone have one/used one? Any feedback on it? Thx.

I just got mine Saturday. It works well and as advertized. One thing it does not spell out is the over-rev categories, which it listsd as 1-5. I once saw a list of what those numbers meant (at rev-limiter, above, etc.) but forgot where I saw that. If anyone has access to those rpm categories, I would appreciate that information. All-in-all, I think reading and resetting (in most cases) error codes from out Cayman is a great thing. One service call (after warranty) will pay for the Durametric.

This might be what you're looking for. From their web site (http://www.durametric.com/porscheecuinformation.php) at the bottom of the page, it says:

The 6 ranges can be broken down as:
Range 1: 7300-7500 RPM
Range 2: 7500-7700 RPM
Range 3: 7700-7900 RPM
Range 4: 7900-8400 RPM
Range 5: 8400-9500 RPM
Range 6: 9500-11000 RPM

The number is the number of ignitions in each of these ranges.
The factory PIWIS tool does not display the hours for each of these ranges but the informaiton is available so we display it here. The hour indicates the last operating hour that this range occured in.

Can you tell me what data is displayed under the 'instrument cluster' area on the Durametric's software - does it display recorded mileage?

I'm thinking of buying a pre-owned cayman and after having my fingers burned with a boxster S that I previously bought and subsequently seemed to have had its mileage adjusted, I thought I could buy a Durametric and look at the ECU info before parting with the hard cash!

I have the durametric and it works as advertised. One glaring omission, IMHO, is that it does not read readiness codes. These are the codes that are used by many states for emission testing. If you want to see if your car will pass emission testing, you'll need to also pick up a low cost OBDII reader that can read readiness codes.

Can it also toggle the ABS pump when bleeding brake fluid after a brake line change / replacement? This step is not required for a conventional brake bleed when the hydraulic system components remain sealed.

Works as advertised, but it does not have half the functionality of VAG-COM. As far as I see, cycling ABS pump is not supported. Think of it as having the freeware functionality of VAG-COM. I am personally dissapointed with how little it can do, I am hoping that over time we will be able to upgrade. I would like the full functionality of the Porsche service computer.

That step is not needed for bleeding the 987 brakes, unlike older ABS Porsches.
