I cruise home at 30 mph for ~2 miles after another very spirited 45 minute exercise (multiple 6K rpm sprints through the gears). Typical exercise

I pull into the driveway for a nice photo shoot. I notice a burning smell standing ~10 feet from outside car. It smelled like burning wood. I proceed to take photos while she idles looking absolutely gorgeous!

On my way to park her in the garage she speaks up. She says.. "take me to the workshop"

I hope it is minor. It happened while idling in the driveway for 2 minutes. Maybe not in the mood for photos.

Any ideas? I will not be able to play with her until she gets treament.

Is the car heating up more than normal while it is on, check the oil temp guage? Also, double check the oil level. Also, is the air conditioning working as normal? If all that checks out, it could just be a cat failure. Hopefully it wasn't the clutch burning smell that you are smelling.

What did this end up being? I have a burning smell at times, people have told me it's the cosmoline, but I'm still a little concerned after only having done 1100 miles.

mdbrit - In you case, it's probably most certainly the cosmoline. My car is 14 months old and has a little more than 20k miles on it, and I can still smell the cosmoline... I doubt you have anything to worry about.
