Michelin 19" Pilot Sprot Cup Tires

I'm considering running these tires on Porsche Turbo wheels that are 8"x19" front and 9.5"x19" rear. The question is tire height difference and possible code errors on the rear tires. These tires come in the 235/35 ZR19 with the correct diameter for the front but not in the 265/35 ZR19 with a 26.3" diameter for the rear.

The tire size Michelin makes is the 265/30 ZR19 with a diameter of 25.3". A difference in rear height of 1" compared to the recommended 265/35 ZR19. My mechanic at Suncoast says it won't be noticeable and shouldn't trip any code sensor.

Anyone tried these tires on 19" wheels or had similar situations?

Thanks,

GuyC

I don't think the difference is an inch. I think the aspect ratio (35) is a percentage of the tread width (265). Then, I believe, that makes the difference 13mm (5%) or a little more than a quarter of an inch. You may want to double check with the manufacturer on this as I am relying on what I learned mounting tires 25 years ago as a Summer job.

MMMM.....just checked the Michelin website. They confirm my calculations above in principle, but their catalog does state the 1" disparity that the dealer told you about. Some of it is the fact that the cups come with 6/32nds of tread and the PS2s come with 10/32nds, but the othe 1/2" plus; I don' know.

13mm ~= 1/2in
1/2in * 2 sidewalls = 1in overall diameter difference

The 19" Michelin Sport Cups come in 235/35 with a diameter of 25.5", and 265/30 with a diameter of 25.3". This change should not cause any problems. We've been running the 18" Cups with the same kinds of changes without any problems.

Agree entirely. I've done this too with no abs/psm issues.
