I have Michelin 19 in with 13,000 miles. It looks like my rears need to be replaced. Tire wear indicator on the inner treads on one of the rears are just even with the outside surface. I belive that is indication to replace the tires. Any one replaced 19 in tires on their Cayman? Is this the correct indicator for replacement? My fronts still look OK.

skup - you are correctomundo - when you're down to the wear bars, it's time to think about new ones in the next little while... 13k miles is really quite good. I think you'll find that you'll replace the rears in about a 2:1 ratio to the fronts with regular street driving.

Thanks. Just wanted to confirm. Your right about the fronts. I can see there is still plenty of room till the wear bars pop to the surface.
I just turned 14K miles and my rears are getting awful close to the wear indicators. When you decide to get tires don't forget to click on the Tire Rack graphic/link on the home page and order your tires from their site via that link and we get a small commission!

Will do. I'm still checking on where to get them installed.

Tirerack has a very tough qualification program for local installers. Go with the one they recommend. I took mine to their recommended shop and those guys were nowhere short of perfection. When was the last time you had your tire shop detail your wheels before installing them Don't skimp and get roadforce balance.

Feeling your pain, but also envious, Skup. My Contis are 1/16th above the TWIs and I only have 7500 miles on 'em. I'll have to replace with the less expensive, but faster wearing Sport Contact 2s. If you guys are getting 13-15k out of your PS2s, they have a much lower cost/mile than the Contis. (It's pay me now or pay me later.) When my fronts wear down concurrent with new rears I will likely switch to PS2s.
I notice the wear bars are more prevelent on the inner treads. The outer treads show some life. Could the camber be off or it's just the fact that they are wide and expecting 100% uniform wear is impossible.
I have heard that performance driving will cause more wear on the outside of the tire. I too have thought that the camber was out because only the rears seem to have negative camber. Moreover the rear bodywork seems to enhance this optically thus emphasing the rear camber. I also heard Porsche sets this up purposefully to give the car inherent understeer which increases its safety margin for the average driver.

My tires are wearing pretty evenly. If anything I may have run a tad over-inflated as the center of the tread is slightly more worn than the edges.
Thanks to all for the great info. Great to have such knowledgeable group of folks within easy access. I ordered from Tire Rack. Best prices. I used the link. It won't be long!
