Wheel Offset question

I think I may be getting confused so I figured I'd better just ask in the forum and someone will set me straight. Wheel offset.

Cayman front wheels 18" from the factory are 57mm offset, if an identical 18" wheel was 50mm offset instead would that be more or less likely to hit the brake caliper? Wider or narrower track overall?

Likewise in the back 18" from the factory are 9" wide and 43mm offset. What if the wheel was 10" wide and 47mm offset? More or less likely to hit brake caliper? Wider or narrower track?

Checking factory wheels in 19" it is interesting to see that although the 18" factory wheel in back in 9" wide and 43mm offset in 19" the 9.5" wide wheel is offset 46mm (greater than 43mm) but the 10" wheel is offset 42mm (less than 43mm) which seems odd to me that as width of wheel increases that the offset is fluctuating.

Thoughts?

Front: The 50mm offset would move the wheel out more, giving a wider track.
Rear: The 47mm offset would move the wheel in more, giving a narrower track.

Offsets are measured from the wheel center line, so the greater the offset, the farther in the wheel will sit under the fender.

I think the 10" Porsche wheels are to be used with the Porsche spacers.

Jim thanks for your answer, notice that in the rear wheel example the width of the wheel changed from 9" to 10" if the 9" is 43mm and the 10" is 47mm would that truly be narrower since the wheel itself is wider? Isn't 1" = 25mm? So would it be fair to say that the offset narrowed 4mm but the wheel widened by 25mm that the wheel actually has a wider track by 21mm? (25-4) ? or am I missing something?

Going from the 9ET43 to the 10ET47 will require 0.66" added inside clearance & 0.34" added outside clearance. I.e., the 1" wider wheel width will be split 2/3" closer in & still extend 1/3" more to the outside.

I guess you didn't download the tire/wheel calculator I posted in this thread. If you had, you'd know the answers.
