I have Fikse FM10 10x18et38 and 8.5x18et44 on order, now I just need tires.
I keep hearing about people using RA-1. I would like to try those tires.
I would like to know what tire sizes people are actually using ON THE TRACK.
I have talked to one Porsche dealer and one 911 performance center, all tell me that the ABS will not function correctly if I change the ratio of tire circumference front to rear.
Please post any real ON TRACK experience with the ABS.....
Before Santa Fe says it, DO A SEARCH. This has been discussed EXTENSIVELY here, and as long as the front and rear tire diameters are within 3 % ( some say 5%) of each other, there is no problem with either the ABS or the PSM.

PSM - Porsche Stability Management
While it can’t overcome the laws of physics, the revolutionary Porsche Stability Management (PSM) system does lend an added degree of balance and control to the Cayman’s mid-engine driving dynamics, inspiring surefooted confidence in corners and extreme situations.
A standard feature on the Cayman and Cayman S, PSM continuously monitors steering input, road speed, yaw velocity and lateral acceleration to calculate the actual direction of travel. If the car begins to steer off line, PSM instantly intervenes with precision brake inputs on individual wheels to help bring the car back onto the driver’s intended path.
If braking alone isn’t enough to correct the vehicle’s cornering line, PSM then calls on the Cayman’s engine management system, adjusting engine output as needed to help stabilize handling. PSM can also compensate in an instant for mid-corner changes in load resulting from deceleration or braking. When Sport mode is selected with the optional Sport Chrono Package, PSM’s threshold for intervention is raised, allowing for greater driver involvement. If you prefer driving without automatic PSM assistance, the system can be set to standby at any time. In this case, it will only intervene under heavy braking, where both front wheels exceed the ABS threshold.
For all of its technical ability, PSM goes virtually unnoticed in everyday driving situations, preserving the Cayman’s natural agility.
I have DONE A SEARCH.... I was hoping for a bit more help than randomly hunting.
I think asking others what size Toyo RA-1 they are using ON THE TRACK, is a reasonable question.
Sorry, to have posted a question that stupid, Thanks anyway.....
if your fikses have the correct offset for the car (i can't find my fikse receipt to verify), your dealer is full of it.
use the size jim recommended for RA1's.
sleepless and i both run those on and off track.
i chew'd up 9 sets of those, never had ANY ABS issues.
I use Toyo R888s, 255 F and 295 R on 8.5/10-in Fikses. They are the next generation RA-1. You need to relocate the brake lines (to prevent rubbing) and use a heat gun on your fender liners (to shrink the plastic a bit) to accommodate these sizes.

I do use Toyo RA-1s 245/40 R18 fronts and 275/35 R18 rears on the track, on stock Porsche Boxster S rims. Got the rims on eBay, I get my tires used from Wisconsin (already shaved & heat cycled, $80/tire). No rubbing, no fitment, no ABS or PSM problems. Great tires, right down to the cords.
In addition, I've run 225/40 r18 Dunlops and 285/30 r18 Michelin Pilot Sport Cups, as well as 225/40 r18 & 285/30 r18 Pirelli P Zero Assymetricos on the track, same rims, also without ABS or PSM problems.
Hope that helps.

How many track days can you get out of those tires? Have you adjusted your camber? I just got a set of 18 inch Boxster S wheels with new PS2s on them for the track and am debating whether to run the PS2s down first or just take them off and go with RA1s. I am ready for RA1s. My street wheels/tires are 19 inch Carrera S with PS2s.

I have not tried Toyo RA-1's on the track, please let us know how they do. I have, however, tried Michelin Pilot Sport Cups which come in an exact match for the front tire but NOT for the rear so my rear tire is different from the factory, a little smaller diameter I think, I'd have to pull up my tire tool to check. I have never had a problem with ABS or PSM or anything with the computer or the car at all because of it. So my front to back balance is not the same, but it is within 5% (I think it is 3.something % if I remember my old calculations correctly but again would have to check). I'm not sure if this is true about being within X% or if that is an urban myth that has cropped up. I can only tell you in my experience using a 265x35x18 instead of the factory 265x40x18 caused no problems on street or track.
