18' to 19' Wheels

Quick, two part question:

I have a 2006 Cayman S with the 18' rims - I want to get larger 19' inch rims for the beast. Do i need to make any modifications to the suspension before putting on larger rims?

Also....does anyone know a good place/site to get OEM Porsche Rims? I don't really want anything aftermarket if I can get around it.

1. I don't think you need to make modifications to the suspension if you are using OEM Porsche Rims. (There are quite a few folks on this forum who know a lot more than I do. They'll let you know for sure.)

2. Wheel Enhancement sells Porsche OEM wheels. They will take your 18" wheels and tires in trade. I bought my 18" wheels from them.

I have a set of 19" Carrera S wheels as well as 19" Carrera Classics that I'm about to list in the classifieds. They are both OEM. I bought Forgelines from another club member. PM if you are interested.

Can you send pictures of your rims?

I know that the Cayman has the option for 19' inch rims...I was just curious if I have to do anything special to the car in order to facilitate the switch.

If they are OEM rims made for the Cayman, then there's nothing you need to do except bolt them on... make sure you get the OEM sized tires 235/35 front and and 265/35 rear... Think about getting proper N-spec tires - there should be a thread or several that will explain what Porsche N-spec means... do a search on "N-spec" and you'll find it.

I have both 18 and 19" and you only have to bolt them on, if they have the proper offset for the Cayman. The front wheels have compatible offsets acrooss the Porsche line 993, 996, 987, 997, 987; The rears vary, for 9.5" wide I believe it is 47mm. If you are trying to fit 10" wide rims from another Porsche you will need spacers. I am getting a set with 65mm offsets and I ordered a set of 18mm hubcentric spacers. Do not forget longer bolts if you use spacers.
