I'm pretty sure the only way to disable it is in a PIWIS system tester at your local Porsche dealer, at least you could on a 2006 model, I'm not sure that it is necessarily "legal" to disable it on 2007+ models since it is a federally mandated option. In essence the dealership might not do it for you because they don't want to get into hot water with the feds. Could you not just move the TPMS sensors over?

BTW this topic belongs in the tire/wheel forum.

Disabling TPMS

The 3 piece forged wheels use a right angle valve stem which exits from the center piece and looks to me as if it's not compatible with the factory sensors. I came from the Audi world where I had my own VAGCom and could easily turn the TPMS off on my RS4.I'll check with Vellano on the stock sensors but my preference is to disable it since I check tire pressures regularly ( min of every other day) and will have a set of track wheels & tires eventually. I've found TPMS to be mostly a pain in the butt.

The TPMS world changed in 2007 (at least in the US) when it became a mandatory safety feature.

It became illegal for any manufacturer to incorporate "any control that automatically disables the TPMS under any condition." (49 CFR Part 571).

Likewise, 49 U.S.C. 30122 states that a "manufacturer, distributor, dealer, or motor vehicle repair business may not knowingly make inoperative any part of a device or element of design installed on or in a motor vehicle or motor vehicle equipment in compliance with an applicable motor vehicle safety standard ... ."

In short, it's illegal for any dealer or commercial repair shop to disable TPMS. Individual car owners can do what they wish.

TPMS is far more sophisticated then the audi system. i have had quite a few S4's. you CAN kill off TPMS. i dont remember where i posted this. search for "mooty" here or at rennlist.com. there are step by step instruction of doing it. very few dealer actually know how to do it (even if they are willing). but i can tell you non of my late p cars got TPMS, i killed them off with this procedure.

you are welcome to do it at your own risk of course.
