Dymag

Anyone here ever considered getting some DYMAG rims now for their Cayman?
Not cheap, but sure VERY light and something VERY special.
My friend is using them (the 9 spoke) on all their Callaway’s and they look really nice.
Off course it's not about the look only, but more about the major savings of unsprung weight.
They come in 19x9 for the front and 19x11 rear, which would fit a 295/30 tire...
They make them with 100% custom offset which is really nice!

Anyone?

Stephen at Imagine Auto has a set on his Turbo and this is either his 2nd or 3rd set because of some issues with the wheels, I think they were still working some kinks out.

“If” I would change my rims, I would probably go for 19" again, but not sure yet. I don’t like rims with a large lip (especially not polished) and like the center star to approach the outer rim as far as possible. Makes the wheel look bigger as well. Maybe the 18” Dymag, which also come in an 18x9.5, would do the trick already.

K-Man S,
From my understanding, Dymag had issues with discoloration of the CF, turned yellow/greenish after just a very short time period and they had lots of returns. I was told it’s resolved now...
Did you hear of any other issues?

Thx!

Some pics.

I think they are absolutely gorgeous!

Can anyone tell if this below is an 18” or 19” (looks like 19" to me)?

Why can’t I stop thinking about these wheels! AARRGGHHH, maybe because they are soooo nice

I was playing around a little with different sizes and offsets and this is what I came up with so far. “If” I would go for it my criteria would be to eliminate all spacers (just additional unsprung weight. I am using a 5mm front and 15mm rear) get 19” again, but probably 11” in the rear.

So, it would look like this:

Current Carrera Sport wheel set up:
8.5x19, +55mm offset and 5mm spacer would equal +50mm offset without any spacer.
10x19, +42mm offset and 15mm spacer would equal +27mm offset without any spacer.

Dymag:
9x19 +53mm offset would be 8mm less clearance inside and extend 4mm to the outside (which is ok).
11x19 +38mm offset would be 24mm less clearance inside and extend 2mm to the outside (what I want).

Only concern would be any inside rubbing. But Rinspeed and Techart (and others) use a +40 set-up for their rears and another members has just done a +38 offset as well without issues. So should work just fine.

I am probably meeting with Rennworx some time soon to talk to them in person and to see how those wheels would look on my car…

They also make other great lightweight wheels, like the WORK RXX (comes in 19x8.5 +45 and 19x10 +38 in silver or black), which retail for only $3,900. They would fit great without the need for any spacers…
I also saw a one piece forged wheel they especially built for McKenna Porsche once which also looked really cool, don’t know the exact specs (yet), but was a five spoke, similar to the Techart wheel, sure looked great. I think the retail price for those was the same as the WORK RXX.

Hopefully I can take some pictures when I go there and post them here.

The set of 19" retails for $9,500.
I believe the 9" fronts are 16 lbs and the 11" rears are 18lbs.
