Tire Life of Pilot Sports

What has been everyone's experience on the life span of your OEM Michelin Pilot Sports II?

I am at 11K, and the tread still looks pretty good.

I just replaced my rears at 19,000 and the fronts had about 40% of tread left. Mine is a daily driver no track time.

Close to 10k and mine look great. No track time. Really surprised how much tread is left. My previous 540i consumed pilot sports like popcorn.

I have about 17K on my 18" including 3 track days and an AX - I figure I will have to replace them in March after my next track weekend.

Hello Donelonpc,

Obviously your driving style will have the most influence on your tire wear. When I last measured my 18" PS2s at 4,375 original miles, both fronts were down to 8/32" (new is 9.5/32" and the wear bars are at 2/32"). Therefore my front tires each are about 20% consumed.

My rear left measured 5/32" (new is 10/32" and the wear bars are at 2/32"). Therefore my rear left is 62% consumed.

My rear right tire (the driving tire) measured 4/32"; therefore it is 75% consumed.

All this wear in just 4,375 street miles is good indication that I'm really enjoying my Cayman's exhilarating handling!

Regards,
Joe

SF - I've gotta give you credit for constantly redirecting one and all towards previous threads! And you have slowly evolved to doing it in a way that is oh so subtle but still transmits the point! You moderators must have an occasional meeting where you elect point men for various non-conformancies and general cat herding duties!

Here's to you and the other moderators!
