I've had a new CS for just over a month. Am nervous about getting stranded w/ a flat tire which can't be sealed w/ the sealant provided by Porsche. How many of you'll have had the misfortune of being in a place where cell phone signal is poor & you have a large gash in the tire sidewall which can't be fixed.
There are several hundred posts on this subject that you should read. Some have gone to aftermarket spares and other such solutions. Be sure and read through all of them. Oh and some people even buy the car not knowing there is no spare.
I had a flat this past summer, 4 Hours total time including waiting for a flatbed and the ride home 10miles from my house. I might look into a 911 spare for the front trunk. not sure if the other rim with a flat would fit anywhere though. maybe a roof rack with a spare

I carry four options in case of a flat; call Porsche, call AAA, use the OE goo, or use the aftermarket tire plug kit. I won't decide which to use until after the flat. BTW, the last time I had a flat while on the road, cell phones didn't exist.
I also had a flat, on a brand new tyre - and guess what, you cant repair them, 4 hours waiting while Porsche assist (AKA the RAC around here) took wheel to dealer for a replacement which cost £325.00 ($638.00)

Hmmm...good justification to go aftermarket rims/tires.
In case of a flat, I figure I'd call the wife and either she can bring a stock rim/tire, jack, and torque wrench or I'd get it myself. Depending on where I'm stranded, it probably will take less time than calling a tow truck.

You are right to be nervous. Be VERY nervous. For all those people with anecdotal stories about they haven't had a flat since the dawn of time, the data is meaningless. Many people have gotten 3 flats in a month. It happens. It all comes out in the wash and it will most likely happen, when you don't want it to (Murphy's Law).
This has been discussed numerous times and is a source of irritation to many. See the FAQ for spare tire information.
I know people who have been stranded in Death Valley with no spare. I have been stranded in the Nevada desert with NO CELL service. Not fun at all. Thinking that you can drive around the country and depend upon cell service is foolhardy. No amount of goop is going to fix a blowout.
