Boothe Design 10mm Wheel Spacer Animation

I finally had time today to install my new 10mm powder coated wheel spacers from sponsor Boothe Design. Here are some quick animations to show you the differences between before and after.

I have also posted a bunch of photos in this Gallery awaiting the article I am writing:

http://www.caymanclub.net/gallery/br...ages.php?c=271

Check it out!

No more rubbing on the inside wheel wells or parking brake cable, I think 10mm was the "just right" size for these particular wheels. I hung my test corner at 70 mph with no rubbing at all, I hadn't been able to do that ever since I had my first set of Fuchs-style custom wheels installed last summer.

How would these work on stock 19" wheels?
What would be the difference in feel?

I doubt you'd feel any difference unless you had some rubbing like I did because I went to a 10" wide wheel where 2/3rds of an inch was added on the inside and 1/3 of an inch on the outside of the wheel. 10mm is a little over 1/3rd of an inch (4/10ths actually) so basically I shifted it to be about 2/3rds on the outside and only 1/3rd on the inside by adding the spacer. Moving the wheel outward was critical so as not to rub with my wider wheels.

The offset of my wider wheel wasn't exactly what I wanted it to be, hence I added the spacers.

For a factory 19" wheel just assume that you'd be moving your wheels outward by 4/10ths of an inch.

I really think 10mm is about the max you want to move your wheels outward because anyting thicker and you lose the inner hub centering pieces inside of the spacer as opposed to making contact with the wheel. Some race sanctioning bodies won't allow anything more than a 10mm spacer.

These ones from Ralph Boothe at Boothe Design are really very nice. I had to get longer bolts too as you can see in the link I posted to the gallery pictures.

I guess in summation my car had 1/3rd of an inch per side or 2/3rds of an inch wider track than stock with just the wheels, by adding the spacers I've added another 4/10ths per side or lets see that's .333+.4 or .7333 per side or a 1.46666" wider track overall. (in addition to having more tread on the ground with a wider tire than stock).

Can I "feel" that? Not without some serious back and forth testing to see if I really could discern a difference and I just don't have the time or equipment for that. Do my tires not rub anymore? So far no rubbing which is what I was looking for, that and a bit better visual look with the tire filling the wheel well better.

When it is sunny out and I get the car out I will take a picture from behind so you can see what that looks like.
