New Fikse Wheels Installed

The new wheels arrived yesterday...
Fikse Profil 10 with the standard "Technipolish" finish.
Here are the specs.
8.5 x 18 OS 51
10 x 18 OS 38
I have left the factory spacers on as well.

One question...I weighed the 19"carrara classics (tires ON PS2 stock size) and the new 18" Fikse's (Tires On...235 and 265 PS2 stock size).
Instead of shedding the expected 20 lbs or so, they weighed almost the same.
Any opinions?

Beautiful wheels - that's a classic look on a black car IMO.

The OEM wheels are pretty light to begin with, and given that the Fikses are a tad wider, and the 18" tires a little heavier all around, that probably explains why there wasn't much, if any weight reduction.

I think that explains it. Really, really cool wheels on that black Cayman. That's a great look.

The wheels look awesome. I've had two sets of Fikses, and still have a hankering for them. Odd that they weigh so much... the 17" "classics" I used to run weighed less than 18lbs. Perhaps the Profils have more metal in 'em.

yeah, except the classics i have are 19's...they weigh about 24-26 lbs per.

according to wheel enhancement where i got these, the Fikses weigh about 19.xxx lbs or so. I remember reading somewhere that a smaller wheel (18 vs 19 for instance) brings the rotating mass closer to the center and improves the handling characteristics. maybe someone more versed in this can chime in.

Lucky: 18" wheels will bring the rotating mass of the wheel in closer to the center, but then you've still got the tires that go out about the same distance from center (assuming you've kept about the same tire diameter), so rotating mass distance (and amount) probably hasn't changed much. The tires weigh about the same as the wheels, and the 19" tires may actually weigh a bit less than the 18" tires of the same width due to the shorter sidewall of the 19" tires.

Great look! The Profil 10 is on my wish list too for my black CS. I see you stayed with the stock size instead of going wider (245/275) - any reason? Also, can you clarify "factory spacers"? Thanks,

Aree with others here.. My BBS LMs were approx the same weight (-1-2 pounds) as stock cayman wheels. BBS are the same sizes as your Fikses, which is a little wider than stock. I think the OEM porsche wheels are really light for a cast wheel... either that or the whole "forged" thing is nothing but a marketing trick

Those look very nice. So nice in fact that if you can't reconcile the weight I am sure several of us in Atlanta will offer some southern hospitality and trade for stock wheels. It just seems like the right thing to do.
