I was looking at the tires on my CS and they are showing a lot of wear around the outside edges (just got the car, previous owner must have had some fun). I am looking into getting new tires that wear a little better. I pulled up TireRack and found that the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric have a higher UTQG score (240 vs 220 of the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2), cost less, and have the highest rating in the field test. Sounds like a winner, but I don't think they are N-rated. Does that matter? Will it void my warranty if I don't run N-spec?
As Kor replied there are a number of threads on the subject with a bottom line of N for inconclusive. Be sure and read what has been discussed in the past so you can make up your own mind. There were some very good threads that you shouldn't miss.
This federal law regulates warranties for the protection of consumers. The essence of the law concerning aftermarket auto parts is that a vehicle manufacturer may not condition a written or implied warranty on the consumers using parts or services which are identified by brand, trade, or corporate name (such as the vehicle maker's brand) unless the parts or service are provided free of charge. The law means that the use of an aftermarket part alone is not cause for denying the warranty. However, the law's protection does not extend to aftermarket parts in situations where such parts actually caused the damage being claimed under the warranty. Further, consumers are advised to be aware of any specific terms or conditions stated in the warranty which may result in its being voided. The law states in relevant part:
No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumers using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade or corporate name... (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)).

I will answer this part of your question... no, it won't void your warranty... actually, few things will... now, do what Yoda says, and search for the rest of the answers... there's many threads about this topic already in the bank.

I actually searched before I posted. I couldn't find a straight answer on the warranty thing though. Lots of misdirection from Porsche. TireRack said it was all good (its in their better interest though). Now that I know it will not void my warranty, lets focus on the tires. I was looking for opinions on the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric. Anybody have them?

I don't have them, but I would go to Michelin tires and wheels for cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs: Michelin Tires and get the detailed specs on the equivalent N spec PS2. Make sure, for example, that the tires you are looking at have the appropriate load ratings...front and rear...to get the best from your car. Good luck!
Goodyear's 240 wear index tires may give no longer wear than Michelin's 220 tires. The wear indexes are relative only to tires of the same brand.
Do the Goodyears come in 265/40/18s? 265/35/18s will look a little funny, but would lower your gearing a bit, as well as throw-off the odo and speedo readings.

Back Order
Same sizes. Should look the same. Plus, as many have found, the PS2 are on backorder.
Lately I've been running non-N-spec bridgestone RE01R and I find the dry grip to be significantly better than the PS2's I previously had. The RE01R is their hybrid street\track tire and uses a "semi-slick" compound. The only issue is in 19'' the rear is only available in 275/30 and that makes the sidewall very thin leading to a less comfortable ride and a slightly larger gap between the tire and fender. Still, for the performance I really love the tire. - Suneet
