PS2 still on backorder, what did you all switch to?
I know the 18" rears are back in stock, but the 19s are still out, and I have to replace my tires.
What tires have you guys switched to?
Here is some of my research.
PS2s - rear backordered
RE050 - in stock, porsche N-spec, but low tread rating (140, although this scale isn't consistent across the industry)
RE050 pole positions - closest rear size is 275/30/19.
T1-Rs - used to be sponsored by toyo for years, not interested.
pzeros - rated by tirerack as a top notch tire. had these on my previous S class, tires are prone to get out of round quickly.
yoko advan - interesting possibility.
So yeah, what have you guys decided on? I would like to get PS2s if possible as I enjoyed 20,000 miles on them, even with two DEs, (pretty amazing huh?)

I've heard a lot of good things abut the RE050A's and a couple people have told me they like them better then the PS2's they replaced... YMMV, of course... from what I've seen and heard they're getting about the same amount of wear as the PS2's, so I don't think the 140 wear rating should scare you away... if you want to stay with OEM sizes, then go with the RE050A's.

Heard some good things the last few months about the Advan Sports... and these come in the exact OEM sizes, too.
What I've heard has come from other drivers - my street tires are the Michelins.

I'd recommend Bridgestone RE050A's (N-spec), or if you're looking for a greater edge on dry performance the Bridgestone RE01s. While I've read lots of testimonials that the Continentals are poor in performance compared to the Michelin's, I've never read this of the Bridgestone's; though I believe the Michelins have an edge in wet performance and overall comfort.

I looked at the Re01s, they seem to be back ordered.
Yeah I've had nothing but miserable experiences with continentals.

Spot on. This debate raged on in the 335i forums which come with RE050 RFT's. In performance tests I found online, the Michelins have an edge in wet lap times and comfort, the RE050's actually have a slight edge in dry lap times.
FWIW I bought some take-off wheels and tires, but after much research I had decided on Goodyear F1 Asymmetric had I decided just to get new tires on my existing rims. My car currently has winters on it.
The 140 tread rating is really not accurate compared to Michelin and others... The RE01R's have the same rating and from what I can tell after 4,000 miles show better treadwear than the PS2's. I've put the tires through two extreme mountain driving trips (Rock n' Croc 2 and a scouting trip for RNC3), one through rain and they performed beyond my expectations every time. If you look at people on here and read all the reviews on Tirerack.com you will see people who have driven them up to 20k miles with no issues.
I did a LOT of research on tires and emailed back and forth with Jim from Tirerack; the Yokohama's seemed too pricey for the tire, the Dunlop and Goodyear eagle seemed underwhelming to me in tirerack's own in-house research, where the RE01R really shined (over 1g dry grip on their bmw 325 test mule, highest recorded at the time). I also considered the Continetal ContiSportContact3 but they were largely untested at the time I purchased. I believe we will be seeing a Michelin PS3 sometime soon, perhaps this is a reason stock is low.
Also there is one advantage the RE050A has over the RE01R and that is lower weight, especially in the sizes required for the Porsche...
