Ordered CS, what tires does it come with

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, but looking in the FAQ section under Cayman Wheel Options and the 08 Order Guide File, I see two different wheel sets for my ordered car. The 19' C Classics in the FAQ portion of the site state they come as front 19x8J 235/35 rears 19x9.5J 265/35. The Order Guide File says they come 19x8J 235/35 rears 19x11J 295/30. anybody know which it comes with or do I have to specify with dealer before delivery? Also which type of tire, do I ask for certain brand?.......thanks, new to the Cayman Club and figuring out the car.

19x9.5J 265/35 is correct. An optional Cayman S wheel has a 10" rear width, but the same 265/35 tire size.

What's max tire size

With max 19x10' rear width what is max tire size, still 265 or could you mount 285's. I'm sure theres a tire chart somewhere but am thinking last month I saw a 911 with 19" Carrera Classics in a dealer show room with 305's? on the rear...

Found it....

Am I seeing this correct, and sorry I did look earlier but just found it now, on the tire chart file with 19x9.5 one can go up to 295 width if you choose, which I may, and can I factory order them? will Porsche ship the car out with these on, thanks...

No, the factory will only ship the 235/265 combo. You might ask your dealer if they'll put different tires on it once the car arrives... you also might want to think about going to 245s on the front, if you do wider in the back - because putting more tire patch in the back will make the car understeer even more than it does already if you keep the 235s in front...

Do some reading through the "tire and wheel" section - there's been quite a few discussions about all this.

I agree with beez. Try to maintain the OEM front/rear tire width stagger, but 235s are already at the narrow end for a good fit on 8" rims. Thus, 245s will be more expensive, and may not add any noticeable grip or contact patch over the 235s on 8" rims. 245s might be a better fit on 8.5" rims. 265s or 275s are a good fit on 9.5" rims, but I'd stick with 265s with the 235s on 8" rims.

The optional Carrera Sport wheel comes in 8.5" and 10" widths for the CS. I think it still comes with 235/265 tires, but the 245/275 combo would also work well. Some people have mounted 295s on the 10" rear rims; but then what they can fit on the front rims may be a little too narrow for the wide rears.

Also pay attention to the tire diameters of any f/r combinations you're considering. 285s in the proper diameter seem to be harder to find than the 265s, 275s and 295s.
