Rusty wheel nuts

I'm wondering if it normal to get rust on the wheel nuts? This is after my Cayman's first winter with salted roads. I've never had this on any previous cars.

If this is normal, any advice on removing the rust from the hard to get to places?

Mine had a fair amount of moisture and road salt exposure this winter also, and I don't have any appreciable rust on them.

I guess you could try to clean them with a wire brush and some commercial rust remover (you would have to remove them and clean each individually), then cover them a with a protective coating of some sort; or, you could buy a new set of lug bolts.

Mine did the same thing and I hated the way they looked. I took mine off and removed the rust then painted them.

You might try Ralph Boothe (in the sponsor section) for his chrome wheel nuts (lugs?). They don't rust and they look better than the OEM ones.

Mine look the same way and I am in Houston Texas, no salted roads but it does rain. My Boxster did the same. I am going to take Joe's advise and go with Boothe.

Another vote for Ralph Boothe. Great matching locking bolts as well.

Just got my Boothe lug bolts yesterday. I only ordered them for the rear. But now that I look at them, I may have to get another set for the front. They seem to be of much higher quality than stock.

Thanks for all the advice. The Porsche dealership that sold the car to me has agreed to replace the nuts under my warranty.
