TPMS goes haywire

Starting Sat my TPMS has gone haywire showing add air on different wheels over and over.I lowered air pressure and reinflated the tire and reset several times without sucess.Durametric shows no fault codes so I'm off to the dealer - this is my 1st issue with the car. It's indicating a problem with 1 tire one time and all four occasionally.I hate these " nanny" systems. Wish it was easy to turn off - without using PIWIS.

I'm sure you are aware that you must be driving to reset the TPMS. Otherwise it sounds like a control module has gone bad and you have done all you can do. Let us know but I'm betting a replacement is the only cure.

+1 to what Santa Fe said, you need to drive for ~30-60 minutes and everything should reset it self.

According to the service manual, if you disconnect battery all the readings will go to -- and then drive around and the readings should come back up properly.

I recently bought a second set of wheels with TPMS and the new ones are very inaccurate, up to -4 psi when cold and up to -6 hot. My old sensors were within 1-2 psi always. Any thoughts ?

Sunday nite I over inflated the tires and dropped the pressures to my normal settings this AM. Resetsystem and drove to work - so far no low pressure warnings but the system reads -2 on all 4 wheels. If it repeats the malfunction I'll try disconnecting the battery!

So if we over inflate first? Then bring it down to the correct pressure?

Had my tires mounted and they only put 34 psi in them, so I added 2 psi to bring it to 36 psi for the rear. The car warned me -5 psi low......more like -1 psi.

Make sure the car has been sitting for a while and tires are cold. Fill the air ot the right cold air pressure. Then go inside the car, put the key in to position 2 (on) but don't start the engine. Go through the sensor/wheel relearn process by going into the TPMS menu in the instrument panel; select the correct wheel size, tire type, and confirm till you see "Process Completed," then turn the car on, you'll get a TPMS learning warning, drive around for 30 minutes or so until the readings come back up.

DesertCayamS,

Also remember that that the internal pressure gauge in your tire will read differently than you handheld pressure gauge. There is alot of info on different threads on this subject.
