Now these comments are on my Turbo style wheels that are an option on the Cayman, but I do not see an issue with tolerances against the valve stem.
To me, in the first picture it looks like the stem itself is screwed in from the outside using the hex nut on the stem to hold the
TPMS sensor on the wheel. It is not inserted from the inside like some other valve stems. Am I correct here?
The second picture shows the stem installed with at least a few mm's of clearance all around it.
It would seem completely feasible to me to take the stems aside, prime and spray them, wrap them with masking tape, carefully install them, and take the tape off. If need be touch up any areas with a squirt of paint in the cap and a brush. And then finish off with a black plastic cap.
I wouldn't try to paint them completely after they are installed as you will never get behind the stem in the recess.
With all this said. I think it is one of those things that only you will notice. Everyone who looks at my car is just in awe at an all black Porsche and no one so far has commented on my deviated stems.

TPMS - The Tire Pressure Monitoring System provides early warning of any drop in pressure by continuously monitoring the pressure in each tire and alerting you in the onboard computer display in the event of a pressure deficiency. It communicates the exact pressure of each tire and/or their deviation from ideal pressure. This does away with the need for regular air pressure checks at the service station, which often prove highly inconvenient.
See the TPMS FAQ for more info. |
