He had one flat. and he had 8K mile on 4 tires. He said according to the dear, as long as the difference is less than 30% then it is fine. and he also said "I just passed 8,000 miles and my tires have a lot of life left on them. Do you guys think I can get away with changing just one? Or should I consider changing both (ouch....!)?" Dealer told him that his tire is 25% after 8K miles.
So he doesn't need to get two tires.
i know that I brought an expensive car, but that doesn't mean that I am so rich and do not care about money (used every peny to buy my dream car). Also N-spec will just bring the BEST out of the car, but if the car just sit there or never go above 70mph, N-spec is such a wasted. that is why i would like to buy 4 regular tires for daily driving, and PS2 for track.
Most people get about 20k-25K miles on the front tires, but the wear on the tires after 8k miles depends entirely on how you drive - if you drive like Gator Bite - who drives like my grandmother (I read that same thread awhile ago) - then you could get away with just one - have the service people at the dealer take a look at the other tire and see. You might very well be able to replace just the one tire.

thanks, I will get two tires, and keep the other used rear tire as a spare.
The update:
Dealer just called, the cost to fix is $2150,
which includes
tire (I forget to ask how many)
new rim (dealer said the rim is bend)
4 wheel alignment
labor
tax.

I'm glad you got this worked out - you should definitely talk to your insurance company to see if they will cover some or all of this under your comprehensive coverage - you hit some sort of road hazard, and they may cover some of this... probably the cost of the rim, if nothing else.

Here is Costco information for Michelin PS2 N spec. The guys at Costco are good guys but very few of them know anything about N spec tires. All the following info For Michelin Pilot Sport 2:
With the above information you should not have any problems odering N Spec tires from Costco. In my case they are never in stock, I always have to order them, but they get them in a reasonable amount of time. Their prices include mounting balancing, rotation, and most important of all Road Hazard Insurance. I just had a 19" develop an "egg" in the sidewall. They looked at it and said yep we need to order you a new tire, no questions asked. I swear by them. They just need a little guidance with N spec tires. Sometimes you order an N spec and you get the next N spec tire; For example order an N0 and get an N1, but that is not aproblem for me. I belive you will experince a similar situation if you order it from another source.
I have no idea if the compound of the N spec tire is different, but the bead next to the ream sits a little different than a non N Spec tire. Once I mixed N spec with not N spec tire in the same axle and I could not tell the difference while driving, only by looks. A pot hole quickly took care of the problem and I replaced it with an N spec tire just in case.
I just called the Geico and filled the claim. I have to pay $500, then they will pay the rest.
looks like Geico will only pay a $1400 (that is 2100 - $450 the other tire), but after leaving a record on the car and possible insurance rate will increase in the future, I don't know if it is worse it?
Great new, Geico just called, the insurence will not go up, but will go down about $2
thx everyone, right now i only need to pay about $1000 insteed $2200.

***** 30% of what? Miles or tread depth?...Interesting... I just had a front tire & rim replaced with 12500 miles on the original tires. The service manager told me that a tread depth difference of 7 to 10 % is acceptable.
Comments please.

I have no idea, it was discussed on another thread.
I think it is the depth between bother tires.
I agree that 30% difference is too much. 7%-10% is more reasonable. However, we do want them as close as possible
well, just spoke with Porsche Tech Advisor, he said that i don't have to replace the other tire, but he recommands me to replace both rear tire.
Well, I will buy two New Rear Tires and put them on the Origianl LEFT Rim (not damaged) and put on the New RIGHT Rim (origianl rim is "bend".).
Now i have one damage rim and one used tire.
I will put the used tire on the "bend" rim and have a spare.......
I took some pictures with my cellphone (sorry about the qality)
Looks like a razor cut or something that is sharp and flat.
it is about 2 inch wide and 3-4 inch long, it cut through my tire (4th picture from left) and hit the rim.
As you can see, it even cut the rim .5 mm (5th picture).
It happened when i was changing the lane. the only thing that i can think of, is the reflactor on the lane. may be one of them was "up"?
cool, thanks, do you have the link for this information? try to see other selection as well for my other cars
thank
