Tire Time, Group Buy?

Well after 20,000 miles it is time to replace my 19" tires. The dealership is quoting $1630.00 for all four installed. Anyone in Houston, TX have any ideas on getting a better deal? Tire Group Buy?

You can check with Tire Rack and see if Jim and company would do something like that they are a sponsor and have the ability to do so if they want to.

I am not in need of tires now but for a good deal at a group buy I might buy a set of 19s now and keep them until needed.

I am also in Houston. I puchased a set from Tire Rack. Since they are out of state, no sales tax. They have a distibution warehouse in Louisiana, so the tires were on my doorstep the day after I ordered them.

The question then is - who to have mount the tires. I took them to a recommended shop, but they still put a few scratches in the rim...

Yes, I did get 20,000 on the rears. The shop that takes care of my oil changes said I could even get a couple thousand more out of them.

Wow. The most I have ever got was about 15k on a set of F1 GS-D3 on my 996. I always averaged 2:1 or 3:1 ratios of rears to fronts. What tire where they?

The Tire Rack has sells General Exclaim UHP summer tires for much, much less. Reviews from buyers seem to indicate they're a good replacement set. Has anyone tried these tires?

I've always been happy service-wise with Discount Tire. They aren't bad price wise either. Discount Tire has a pretty good rep for taking care of your wheels, etc..
