I got my Pilots installed yesterday. I have to give the dealership a big for a great experience and deal. Bottom line is I got 4 new Michelin's installed for a grand total of $723.40. Those in tune with cost will note that is less than just buying 2 tires from tirerack. The dealership discounted the rears to $310/each and charged $60 for mounting and balancing! What a deal. To make the experience even better I got a Ceyenne loaner for the day. I told them that in my 10 years of Porsche ownership I had never had a Porsche loaner. I also must say that the Ceyenne is a very nice vehicle for what it is. I personally would not want it as my only car but it would be great 2nd car for people hauling.
New tires make the car feel completely new again. I didn't realize how loud the completely worn out rears were until I got the new ones. Side note...either my AC isn't working as well and/or the Ceyenne has far superior AC...it frosted me out while my CS struggles to get cool in extreme hot conditions.
A great result

The math doesn't work for me. You got 4 tires for the price of 2, including mounting and balancing?

I am not math wizard but at 310 each for the year and sixty to install that puts you at 680 just for the rears, how do you get the fronts for 43 dollars? I assume you only got the rears. I take it you did not have them align the rears either. I replaced my rears for 1000 bucks but that include a 4 wheel alignment that was about 200 bucks.
No, he got 2 tires installed, I think it is a typo.
Also is this whole thing about N spec tires total BS? I know the N spec means it meets Porsche specification, but honestly, is there any difference between a N spec PS/2 and a regular PS/2 of the same size and material?
To me, I do not think there is a single fundamental difference in performance between the two, just means that Porsche "approves" of one because that is what they got at that given point in time.
It would probably take 2 seconds for them to approve any PS/2 with the same size as the N spec, since they are from the same manufacturer, just seems like B$ marketing to me.

Not the old 'you need an alignment sir scam'
Anyhow 310 x 2 and 60 for the balancing plus tax for uncle sam
He got the fronts free as Porsche/Continental no longer do N rated Conti2 tires.
It is the arrangement that PCNA have come up with so not to disadvantage those customers who no longer can obtain the Conti 2.

Nick, as an FYI my source said that you are talking to the right person at Porsche (Tim) to get updates about the tire replacement program and that he can talk to dealers who don't understand the program.

Ken, many thanks for that.....
Is there any reason I can't post the rest of Tim's PCNA contact details for those who may have difficulty?

With the PS2s you may or may not be right about any major differences in the N-spec and non-N-spec tires. Porsche and Michelin play it very close to the vest as far as identifying any major differences. If you look at the tirerack PS2 listings there are several that are identified as being for certain makes/models of cars such as BMW, Audi, Corvette, etc.
But, the N-spec has shown in the resent past, with several tire brands and models to be substantially different in both compound and tread design for the N-spec versions of the same model tires. I don't really consider it marketing BS... if it is marketing BS, explain who really benefits? The tire company? Porsche? if so, how?

Yeah I thought they were scamming me but when I saw how much inner wear on the tires there was, I decided to do the alignment as far back to spec as possible before I go tracking again. I have the car lowered on H&Rs and had the camber set for the track so the inner wear was pretty pronounced and with the new tires on there and about three more months before it cools down here in north Texas, I thought it best to realign it as close to stock as possible to get better wear on the tires for the next three months before we go tracking in the fall when it is much cooler. Yeah I thought they were just trying to run the score up but I completely forgot how much camber I had set in for the track. So in the fall when we go tracking I will set the camber back to where it was.

Inner wear I would agree that you would probably need to consider alignment.
Outer wear on the rears maybe a different matter, especially if a car has been tracked hard.
A dealer tried this on me, the point was the car had not even made it into their shop for any work and they were attempting to push this onto me!!
