I am considering moving up to 18" wheels/tires and need some feedback about the OEM Bridgestone Potenza tires (they come with the wheels)... those that have them, do you wish you had Michelins or the new Goodyear
F1?
Also, I saw where the Tire Rack can supply the OEM TPMS sensor and valve stem, any idea what they are priced at for each tire (complete)?
Thanks for the feedback!
Al

TPMS
TPMS - The Tire Pressure Monitoring System provides early warning of any drop in pressure by continuously monitoring the pressure in each tire and alerting you in the onboard computer display in the event of a pressure deficiency. It communicates the exact pressure of each tire and/or their deviation from ideal pressure. This does away with the need for regular air pressure checks at the service station, which often prove highly inconvenient.
As far as tires, if it were me, I'd choose the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric, then the Bridgestone RE050A (NOT pole position) and then the Michelin last. The Assymetrico is the best all around, Bridgestone is the heaviest of all and handles the track well and is well priced, the Michelin is light with a slight edge in dry grip over both tires but its noisier, some people find that it wears too fast or unevenly at the track, and is overpriced.

That is just it, choose wheels with tires (Bridgestone RE050A OEM) and TPMS, or bare wheels and add tires and TPMS, cost is about the same but hassle factor is not...
Hmmm, the wear rating on the RE050A is only 140 versus 280 on the F1's but should I let that sway me?

You can't compare wear ratings between manufacturers because they use different rating/testing techniques... but if you search the forum here you will see that members have positive things to say about the RE050A wear.

Craig was it the Goodyear F1 Asymmetric or the regular Goodyear F1 with the directional tread? The Asymmetric is getting glowing reviews and winning almost every tire test and comparison, but the original directional tire was an outdated design that was noisy and had poor performance when compared with the asymmetric options like the PS2, RE050A, etc.

I have 23,000 aggresive street miles on my RE050A's and they still have alot of tread. From what I have heard and read, the RE050A's are alittle harder, alittle harsher, but longer lasting than the PS2's.
and other than flat spotting after sitting a while, I have no problems with these tires.
With regards to noise, ride quality and dry traction, they are essentially the equal of the PS2; steering response is also very close. Haven't had the car in much rain to speak of but they are reportedly better than the PS2's in that category. Didn't mention the great price or the rebate..
"Sir! We're surrounded!" - "Excellent! We can shoot in any direction!"
A good car will get you from point A to point B. A great car... will just get you into trouble!

Just got off the phone with my P-dealer, they are under the impression the GY F1 A is not "N" rated. Is this true?
I just recently had a flat on my front tire with 50% of tread left. The original con. are not available and my rears need replacing. I would like to try the GY F1 if properly "N" rated.
