My car has 19" Carrera S wheels. To my eyes, the rear wheels didn't sit flush with the side of the car, so I picked up some 17mm spacers at my local Porsche dealer and installed them today. It took about 20-30 minutes.
The spacers are made in Germany and have a nice little recession on the back that helps keep the spacer centered on the hub. There is a rim on the front of the spacer that helps keep the wheel centered on the spacer.
I've attached some pics so that other members with Carrera S wheels can see what it looks like and decide if they want to do this. I don't know the offset of the wheels or the offset of the other Porsche wheels that are available, but you can see what the Carrera S wheels look like with 17mm spacers.
I am very pleased with the results. The rear wheels and tires now sit flush with the side of the car and give a wider appearance to the overall car, whether looking at the car from the front or the rear.
The first picture shows the wheel with no spacers. All of the other pics are with spacers installed. I have intentionally lightened up one of the pictures so you can see how the tire is flush with the side of the car.
Now I've already gotten the reaction I wanted. When I took the car out for a spin with the new spacers, a really hot girl rolled her window down and stuck her head out and waved. Twice. Since that didn't happen when I drove the car earlier in the day, I'm assuming it must be the spacers.

Looks greats. Forgive me if this is a dumb questions - Do the spacers change handling characteristics?
There are a bunch of threads on this with the consensus being NO.
As you can see from the photos the worry is that placing the tires outside of the fenders can lead to road rash from gravel thrown up. It is a personal choice but scared me off since I have lots of gravel and there is no gain except for appearance which is very important to some.
I have 15mm on the rear and 7mm on the front with the same wheels. I have done a few thousand k's now. I havnt noticed any gravel rash or gravel thrown up at all. Makes it look so much better. Every cayman should roll off the line with them.
i too have the 17mm spacers on the rear wheels/tires. they sit flush with the body of the car. if you you at the car from behind you would think the gravel would kick up and scuff the bottom of the bumper/fender as it curves inward. that has not been the case for me as i have gotten the look i wanted without any problems. great looking ride man!
What size were the rims and tires, couldn't tell from the photo, was think of doing the same with a 11inch rim 295 in the rear, wondering if that what you have on there... looks good...
Now I've already gotten the reaction I wanted. When I took the car out for a spin with the new spacers, a really hot girl rolled her window down and stuck her head out and waved. Twice. Since that didn't happen when I drove the car earlier in the day, I'm assuming it must be the spacers.
I had the dealer install 15mm spacers on the rear before I took delivery of my car. I brought my best girl friend with me when I went to pick it up and I showed her the difference the spacers made.
I said to her:
"See how the wheels are more flush with the fenders? It really fills out the wheel wells much better."
She looks at my car, looks at the car next to it, looks at me, looks back at the car, squints a little, looks back at me, then she says,
"You know what? Only you and about four other people in the world are going to notice that."
ncraigh: I haven't noticed much of a difference in handling. The difference that I think I am noticing is probably just mental. As Santa Fe mentioned, there's a few threads about spacers and whether they affect the handling or not. Of course it does affect the handling since the rear track is wider and there's a slight bit more weight added, the question the other threads are trying to answer is to what extent has the handling been altered and is it even measurable.
DL1980 and jaxbch987: It's great to hear that neither of you have experienced any road rash or scratches on the arches behind the rear wheels running spacers. I'm looking forward to many miles of enjoyment.
trunkmonkey: The rears are the 19x9.5" Carrera S wheels with 265mm tires that are optional when configuring a Cayman. All I've done is pushed the wheels to the outside so they are flush with the side of the car. AFAIK it's not possible to order a Cayman with the 19x11" rears from the 997. Now if you upgrade to 997 19x11" rears, that could be very nice, I would like to see that. I think you would need the wheels for the wide-body 997 and some spacers to get the right fit. Definitely upload some pics if you do the upgrade.
CheerIO: Hah ha, that's a funny story! I can just picture that scenario unfolding.
It's definitely a worthwhile mod. The overall appearance is more full now.
I forgot to mention that I was impressed by the light weight of the spacers. I thought they would be heavy but they were pretty light. I should have weighed them so I could share the figures here. The lug nuts were very light as well. My dealer offered to swap out the black nuts that came with the kit for the silver nuts. I didn't handle the black ones so I don't know how heavy they were, but the silver ones are very light.

The Cayman can be custom configured with 235/35, 295/30 by getting the 19inch carerra classic, sport design wheel, or carerra sport wheel and for extreme you can get a 235/35, 305/30 Turbo Wheel. not sure what the factory is doing to make the wheel fit, it they simply use a wheel with a different offset or add spacers. All of those rims are 11inches wide.....
I need some help. I just got my car lowered a couple days ago and now the wheel being not flush with the car.
I have the 19" carrera classic 8 in the front and 9 in the back and so now i need spacers. From what i've researched on the board, I seem to need 7mm in the front and 15 mm in the back for the rear. I've found H&R spacers but now I need to get bolts. I dont' know which nuts and bolts to get.
I'm looking atthe performance product catalog and it says...
DR Series Wheel Spacer (15mm) - Pair
2006-2008 PORSCHE CAYMAN
Part Number: 909572
Price: $129.95
USE 60MM LUG BOLT IF STOCK LUG BOLT IS 45MM (SOLD SEPARATE)
DR Series Wheel Spacer (7mm) - Pair
2006-2008 PORSCHE CAYMAN
Part Number: 909570
Price: $79.95
USE 52MM LUG BOLT IF STOCK LUG BOLT IS 45MM (SOLD SEPARATE)
So a couple of questions
1) is the stock bolt 45mm?
2) where is the best price to get these
3) anybody have a good recommendation for wheel locks?

I have a bunch of 52mm bolts that I bought with my H&R 7mm spacers. 30 brand new on unused bolts...it was a mix up. You can pm me and I can sell it to you cheap. I do not have any extra 60mm bolts for the 15mm spacers though. They didn't mix that one up...haha
