17 inch wheels for Cayman S

Help!

I was planning on buying a set of 18 inch wheels and track tyres for my car however I have just been offered a virtually new set of 17 inch Boxster S wheels shod with new Michelin Sport Cup tyres - all for approx $1500 US. I am wondering whether these would be suitable? If so, I would replace these tyres with ss tyres for track use once worn out.

My car is presently without clutch and gearbox (refer Cayman complaints/clutch/gearbox thread) - flywheel bolt problem - and my service mechanic checked yesterday that the wheel will fit on the Cayman stud pattern.

you should call your service dealer to confirm, but I'm pretty sure the 17's won't fit on the car because of the brake size.

Tks Ken. I specifically asked this question yesterday and was told that this would not be a problem. I was told that these wheels would cause a speedometer calibration problem which doesn't bother me for the track. I will recheck.

I appreciate your prompt response.
