Winter Tires and Wheels


Is there anybody out there in Crocland that can make a good suggestion as to what size Tires and Wheels would allow the Cayman to be used in temps under 45 degrees. I'm not talking about using the car (speed, turns, etc.) in the same manner one wounld in the Summer. Merely what suggestions that would allow us to us the cars in the Winter weather and allow reasonable traction and safety.

Well I used Dunlop Winter Sport M3s on my M3 last winter and they were pretty good.

Tire rack shows that the Continentals are the only tires they carry that fit the Cayman and only in 18'. Has anyone looked at using other sizes like 17s? Will 17s even fit on the Cayman S? 18' snow tires seem like a bit of overkill. I'm thinking maybe some older 17' Porsche wheels would work and allow use of some other tires. Would this be a possibility?
