Advice needed for mounting TPMS modules

Has anyone mounted a TPMS system to their wheels yet - on their own? I haven't noticed instructions in the articles section or elsewhere on the forum.

I am looking for instructions on how to mount it to the wheel - I have received the actual Porsche modules - ordered over the internet, but no instructions came them. It is not completely clear to me how all the parts mount inside the wheel.

I suppose I could have the dealer mount it instead of the tire shop I was going to use - but my first thought was that I would mount it to my new wheels myself and then take it to the tire shop for the mounting and balancing of the winter tires.

Any suggestions?

After looking at the parts a bit I think I have it figured out. But if anyone has done it themselves please let me know.

Why not take some pictures and create an article in the Articles section yourself on how to do this? I'm sure others would appreciate the benefits!

May I ask a dumb question? Why go to an expense of retrofitting the TPMS?
Caymans have the best suspension out there, these cars are acclaimed as the cars that become parts of us...
Heck, on my 3800lb Dodge Magnum I can tell which tire is low. There is the cheapest TPMS in the world - let the streering wheel go and see which way the car goes.
Just my 2 cents. I would put that money aside for my exhaust/headers fund.

What does the suspension set-up have to do with tire pressure monitoring? It is a great utility to keep tabs on what is going on at each corner. I have often wished I could get an instant read on what the pressures were. Do I have a tire going down, or is it just on odd road surface. Not to mention the great info it can provide on track days.

testing
Don't fret. I don't think you're missing much.

TPMS does not give "instant readings," since it's designed to allow preessures to stabilze for each reading. Otherwise it could change with each bump or if you drove through a puddle. If you have a significant puncture (rapid deflation) you'll know it well before you get any TPMS warning.

For track use, if you run typically low cold pressures you'll be way below Porsche's non-adjustable recs (as mandated by federal regs) with the result that you'll have a constant low pressure warning. Likewise, if you run lower street pressures, as I do.

The provider of the TPMS system has a web site with a pdf showing photos of the parts. That should help. (it is also in the files section here). Installation instructions here: http://www.beru.com/download/produkt...tung_tss_e.pdf
